MOBAs are a big part of the gaming world, and they started out as real-time strategy games. A lot happened in the history of MOBA games and how popular they became. Blizzard played a big part in this.
With the release of StarCraft and WarCraft, especially WarCraft III, they set the stage for a more interactive experience and content that people can make and share with each other.
People used game editing programmes to change these games so that they could play them on their own, only sharing colour palettes and game sprites.
There are a lot of great MOBA games out there, but which are the best?
As of 2014, Smite is still going strong. Smite is a game made by Hi-Rez Studios that lets you play as a god or goddess in a third-person perspective, then fight with other players. This game has a million-dollar esports pool at the moment. I was shocked to learn how much money people play this game for. There might be something to it.
Most people like the Conquest mode, where two teams of five players fight each other in a battle. Players can buy weapons and other upgrades before the round even starts, which makes me think of Counter-Strike. Both teams start the round at their “fountain,” or home base. There are two teams: “Phoenix” and “Titan.” The goal is to get rid of them.
One thing I like about Smite is how much you can change it. You can choose from almost 100 characters, all from myths from different places. As a mythology fan, I’m already all in with the game Smite.
Even more heroes from the King Arthur stories are going to be added to the pantheon of heroes that they have. Keep calm, Nintendo Switch users. You’ll get a chance to play one of the best MOBAs soon. The Smite game for the Nintendo Switch is set to come out on February 19, 2019.
Heroes of the Storm
For the first time on this list, Blizzard is on it. The game Heroes of the Storm came out in 2015. It was made for Microsoft Windows and Mac. It came out. Blizzard doesn’t call Heroes of the Storm a MOBA game. Instead, they call it a “hero brawler,” and they’re right: Heroes of the Storm has all of your favourite Blizzard characters in its roster.
It’s like a who’s who of gaming characters. Tracer, Genji, Gul’Dan, Leoric, and a lot of other people show up. There are 85 of them in total. In the first Diablo game, I like The Butcher the best. I used to be so afraid of him when I was younger, but now I can use his evil power to beat my enemies. I think that’s a good sign of character growth.
In the last tournament, there was a 1,000,000 prize. Again, the prize pool is huge:
Players use Blizzard’s Battle.net to fight each other in 5v5 battles on 15 different maps. It even has mounts, which are things that people who play World of Warcraft are used to. Check out this game for years to come. It’s one of the best MOBAs out there.
League of Legends
League of Legends, also known as LoL or League, was made by Riot Games for Windows and Mac in 2009. It was made in 2009. Defense of the Ancients, or DotA, was the direct source of it. A feature I like about League is that every game takes place in its match. This means that all the players start out on the same level, and it’s up to the player to progress and get better skills and items.
League of Legends has a very detailed backstory, with a fantasy world written around each of the different champions. This is something I like more than the other MOBAs. There are a lot of different types of characters in the game, from Eldritch horror to steampunk. You have to fight your way through them all to get to the goal.
Riot Games is very involved in the game’s development. They even have their own eSports league called the League of Legends Championship Series. The $2.13 million prize for the 2014 world championship was the largest in history. The length of the game varies, but most of the players agree that it’s about 30 to 35 minutes long, not 45 minutes long.
Now, there are 143 players in the game. They are split into seven classes: Controller, Fighter, Mage, Marksman, Slayer, Tank, and Specialist.
In 2013, Dota 2 came out for PC, Linux, and OS X. It was the sequel to the first MOBA game, Dota, which came out in 2012. This isn’t just a new layer of paint on top of an old engine. In the International Dota 2 Championship, team OG came out on top, taking home a share of the huge prize money of $11,234,158. Up to 45-50 minutes can pass between games. I read a player’s story about how he was in a 2-hour long match that was very hard on him. It took him a lot of stamina to finish the game.

Released in 2015, Strife was made by S2 Games, which is a game studio in California. It was made for Linux and Windows and released in 2015. Something about Strife and S2 Games that caught my eye right away was their goal to stop the toxicity in the gaming community, which I think can become too much and be abusive.
They tried to make Strife more appealing to people who aren’t very good at playing MOBA games. A game called Strife has two teams of players fight each other. The main goal is to break down the other team’s structure and make them lose. You might recognise it from League of Legends. The structure, which is called “the Crux,” looks a lot like the Nexus in that game.
A player chooses a hero to stay with for the length of the game, which is usually about 30 to 40 minutes. The player can then level that hero up outside of the game by getting experience points.
Vainglory says it’s the “no compromise cross-platform MOBA” and is the first MOBA on the best MOBAs list that is mostly for mobile. Vainglory was first released for iOS and Android devices in 2014 and 2015. It is now in Alpha on Windows and Mac.
In this book, it was written by a company called Super Evil Megacorp, and it was written To show off the hardware, software, and graphical power of Apple’s (then) new iPhone 6, Vainglory was first shown at Apple’s iPhone 6 announcement. People play chess because they want to eventually be in charge of the path between their own and the opponent’s bases.
They can go off the main path and fight AI turrets and other monsters to get resources and help their team win the game. This is a game that can be played on three different platforms at the same time. People from all three platforms can play at the same time.
So that’s one of the things I like about this game, and I think it should be a standard in games by now. As the player, you control the avatar, along with four other people on your team. The avatar is the game’s hero, and the player controls him or her along with the other four people on their team. What the goal is to get past the enemies and destroy the “Vain crystal,” which is on the ground.
In general, this should only take about 20 to 30 minutes to play, which isn’t very long compared to other MOBAs like Dota 2.
