8 Best Xbox Zombie Games That You Should Know Update 03/2024

Black Ops Cold War Outbreak Zombies

It’s crazy how much our culture loves the dead. From old George A. Romero movies to the 100th season of The Walking Dead on AMC, zombies have crept into almost every part of our lives, including video games. Since the first Resident Evil opened up the genre, we’ve been looking for any reason to kill, dismember, and shame the dead. We’ve put together a list of the seven best zombie games for Xbox One right now. Most of these games work with the Xbox Series X/S and can also be played on the PlayStation and PC.

Back 4 Blood

Back 4 Blood

They were left for dead before, but now they’re back to get their revenge. Back 4 Blood is the spiritual successor to the famous Left 4 Dead series, and it puts fans right back into the action of killing zombies with friends. Back 4 Blood keeps things interesting on every run because its characters are all different and have their own skills. The card system lets players build the perfect arsenal for killing zombies and encourages them to keep playing to unlock more cards. Back 4 Blood’s most exciting new feature might be the wide range of weapons each player can use. Of course, those tried-and-true pain pills still show up often.

Dying Light

You play as Kyle Crane, a secret agent sent to the Turkish city of Harran during a pandemic of a deadly virus. Its people have been driven out by hordes of the dead and dangerous human groups. Go out after dark at your own risk, as the zombies become much more dangerous and are led by fast apex zombies that will chase Kyle across Harran’s rooftops. Dying Light is a unique mix of parkour and zombie survival. To get around the huge open world, players will run across roofs, slide under obstacles, and glide on ziplines. Dying Light also has online co-op, where friends can help each other get further in the game or challenge other players in a competitive multiplayer mode where humans fight zombies. On February 4, 2022, Dying Light 2 will come out.

State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2 is an open-world zombie survival game that puts more emphasis on gathering resources and making things than on killing zombies. State of Decay 2 will be optimised for Xbox Series X/S in December 2020. Players will build communities, gather resources, and fight off hordes of zombies. Like most zombie stories, the biggest threat to your survival will be other people. You can choose to make friends or enemies. You can work together with up to three other players to find items and stay alive in this third-person game. State of Decay 2 has gotten mixed reviews from critics. They like the way it handles combat, but sometimes they find the way it handles survival to be boring. State of Decay 2 is a fun zombie survival game for those who want to take it easy. But people looking for something exciting might like some of the other books on this list better. Make sure to buy the Juggernaut edition of the game, which fixes a lot of problems with dogs, patches, and the way the game is played that affect the quality of life.

World War Z

World War Z is all about how to survive in a world full of zombies. World War Z is loosely based on the 2006 book of the same name and takes place in the same world as the 2013 Brad Pitt movie of the same name. The game is played from a third-person perspective as you and a team of friends work together to survive in major cities overrun by zombies. As the outbreak has spread to every part of the world, New York, Moscow, Jerusalem, Tokyo, and Marseille each have their own story and characters. Players will have to fight off waves of zombies as dozens or even hundreds of them run full speed at them.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series

The Walking Dead has made it clear that it is the best zombie show out there. The Walking Dead has a long-running show on AMC, as well as several spin-offs. It has also made its way into video games. In this story-driven, choice-based game, players will move through chapters with stories that are as interesting as the AMC flagship show. The game is more like the comic book series that brought attention to The Walking Dead in the first place. The Walking Dead was made by Telltale Games in 2012, and since then, there have been four full seasons with between four and six episodes each, plus a smaller season about Michonne.

The Evil Within 2

The Evil Within

The Evil Within 2 is the follow-up to the same-named game from 2014. It is the best horror game ever made. Fans can argue that it’s not really a zombie game, but it does have a lot of the things that players would expect from a zombie action-adventure game. Players take control of Sebastian Castellanos, a former police sergeant and detective who must now kill the scary creatures he meets on his expedition. The Evil Within 2 is more like Resident Evil in that the player controls the main character from the third-person view and fights over the shoulder. The Evil Within is made by Shinji Mikami, who also made the Resident Evil games, so it makes sense that it follows the same pattern as those games.

Resident Evil 4 HD

Those who haven’t played Resident Evil 4 have missed out on a lot. Control Leon Kennedy, the most dedicated police officer in Racoon City who has become a special agent, goes on a mission to find and save Ashley Graham, the president’s daughter. Leon goes to a remote part of Spain to talk to the cult that took Ashley, Los Illuminados. Leon will face some of the most detailed monsters ever seen in a Resident Evil game, and the story will be just as good as the one in The Last of Us. You can also test your skills outside of the main campaign in Mercenary mode, which is a wave-based, timed survival minigame that gives players gear to use in the main campaign.

Black Ops Cold War: Outbreak Zombies

Black Ops Cold War Outbreak Zombies

First, let’s look at one of the best zombie games for Xbox One from the last few years.

Since Call of Duty: World at War, each new game has given fans a different and better zombie experience.

When Treyarch and Activision put aside their differences and added zombies to Call of Duty: Warzone in 2020, it was a once-in-a-lifetime event for long-time fans.

Outbreak Zombies is the first zombie game in the Call of Duty series to have an open-world mode. It came out with the second season of Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War.

Up to four people can work together in Outbreak Zombies to complete tasks and fight zombies while teleporting between the three fireteam maps of Cold War: Golova, Alpine, and Ruka.

You’ll need to improve your customised weapons and buy perks, armour, and killstreaks for each wave.

Also, each time you warp, the level of difficulty goes up. By wave 10, players will run into armoured zombies, dangerous Megatons, and deadly Manglers at every turn.

The Outbreak is a free game for people who own Black Ops: Cold War, and it’s just a taste of what the new Call of Duty has in store for zombies.

Check out Die Machine and Firebase Z if you want to kill even more zombies.
