You can read A Short Hike in one sitting if you want to, but I’m sure you won’t. It does what it says it does. With an adorable pixelated art style reminiscent of early DS games, you play as a penguin who just wants to climb a mountain, but who bumps into many interesting people and items along the way. The music and visuals give it so much personality, and the writing only makes the world come to life even more, making it even more interesting. There are so many things to see and do no matter which way you go.

Much like “A Short Hike,” “TOEM” is a lovely little book that you can read in an afternoon. It does a lot of different things, though, because it’s a photography title with a lot of heart. You use your camera to go to a lot of small places, help people with their problems, and solve some mysteries as you go. The photography gives a new way to look around, and there’s a lot of variety between the different places.
