12 Best Games Like Space Engineers That You Should Know Update 04/2024

Games Like Space Engineers

No Man’s Sky was the most talked about game at the time. Despite the fact that a game with a very similar concept was released, I believe it was done better. Space Engineers is the name of the game.

Sci-fi and space opera are two of my favorite genres, and I devour them both with rapt attention. For me, an open-world, exploration-based game where I’m tasked with building outposts and space stations as well as flying ships sounds like a good time.

There’s so much variety in Space Engineers that no two sessions are same. There are times when I feel the want to go out and acquire materials in order to construct various interesting things. When I’m feeling a little nastier, I’m all for blowing things up!

I adore Space Engineers because it allows me the freedom to play the game the way I want.

Today, I’m going to show you a few other games that I think you’ll enjoy, as well. For anyone who like Space Engineers as much as I did, I recommend these games.

1. No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky

Let’s be honest, when No Man’s Sky was first released on the PlayStation 4, I may have thrown a little mud at it.

It wasn’t the game we were expecting at all, it turned out. A game like Space Engineers was what I was expecting.

In any case, it’s a game that’s seen a lot of development in the last few months or years. There was so much effort put into this game that it is substantially different from the original version.

No Man’s Sky has a strong emphasis on exploring, which is one of my favorite aspects of the game. When you discover life on a new planet, it’s a thrill to be a part of the adventure.

I don’t believe that No Man’s Sky has enough content to keep you playing for long periods of time. When you stumble across anything strange or surprising on a planet, it’s still a lot of fun to play the game.

2. Astroneer

If you’re a fan of the Space Engineers series, you’re going to love Astroneer!

You can grow rich by exploring outer space, finding new planets to colonize, and securing all of the lucrative resources that you can locate.

I understand that at first glance, this appears to be a simple game, but it’s actually rather enjoyable to play. But the game has a lot of depth and I think that’s what entices people to play it.

When you land on a planet, for example, you can alter its shape and geography to suit your needs. A planet-tinkering project will assist boost your supply of resources, making your abilities even more impressive.

Resources that can be sold or used to create new and exciting automobiles and other products. Astroneer is a fantastic game, and if you get into it, it’s going to take over your life.

3. Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program’s presentation is cute, to say the least!

A race of space-hopping aliens known as Kerbals are the focus of the game and you must help them.

I’m very sure that Kerbal Space Program is going to be on any list discussing games like space engineering.

You’ll be able to employ a wide variety of components to build your spaceship, but this is only a small portion of the excitement!

When it comes to playing Kerbal Space Program, there are three different options available. Almost every facet of the Kerbal Space Program is under your command in the career mode.

This is a fantastically detailed sim game that will appeal to fans of the genre. Using Science mode, you can experiment with new and exciting science techniques that can help you progress as a Kerbal.

We also have sandbox mode, which allows you to do whatever you want. Playing this mode is a lot of fun, but it’s also great for learning the game’s mechanics.

4. Planet Nomads

Planet Nomads reminds me a lot of Minecraft, too, along with Space Engineers. This is because you take on the role of a lone space explorer stranded on an alien world.

You’ll need to create yourself a location to live and the supplies you’ll need to survive using a variety of blocks.

There are a plethora of possibilities here, and your only true constraint is your own creativity. They prefer to discuss about the actual construction process.

Planet Nomads was more of an adventure for me. It wasn’t until I’d established a solid foundation that I would set out into the world in search of as many resources as possible.

However, there are all sorts of strange alien life forms out there just waiting to eat and slice you to bits! While the journey to the North Pole is fraught with risk, I had a great time attempting to reach it.

5. Empyrion – Galactic Survival

Empyrion – Galactic Survival

Thank you to my friend who bought me a copy of this game, because I had no idea it was out there. There is no other way to characterize this game than as a 3D open world survival adventure.

You go through the motions of playing a game of this type. You explore your surroundings, gather materials, and build stuff.

But the game looks beautiful and when they claim you can do everything you want, it actually is possible to do so. The first few hours are really intense, and they serve as a prelude to the rest of the experience. The other option is that you’ll become a timid player who does anything he or she can to simply survive.

Alternatively, it will drive you to do whatever it takes to become super powerful and annihilate any fellow players, aliens, or other strange things that stand in your path.

During your first few hours of playing Empyrion – Galactic Survival, you may find yourself searching for a specific resource, only to uncover a new alien race!

6. Avorion

Avorion has a lot of potential. With a sci-fi plot that begins on the outskirts of space, this game has a lot to offer.

Space has been ravaged by a cataclysmic event, making space travel more perilous than ever before, but you still want to go there in order to acquire new resources, participate in epic space wars, and search for the elusive metal known as Avorion.

As one of the most action-packed games on this list, Avorion emphasizes the importance of having the correct armaments on your spacecraft.

The game also has a multiplayer component. It is far easier to travel the galaxy with a friend than to play alone because everyone you meet is out to get you!

In Avorion, there is a lot of exploration and craft management, but the space battles are the most impressive aspect of the game.

7. Osiris: New Dawn

Osiris New Dawn

Despite the conflicting reviews, I think Osiris: New Dawn is a great game. Survival after crashing on a new planet is the goal of the game.

Now, of course, you’ll need to find and utilize resources to accomplish this. Then there’s the building, and finally there’s the fighting. Osiris: New Dawn’s fighting is top-notch.

Some of the animals that inhabit this planet remind me of the bugs from Starship Troopers, which is a compliment.

If you’re searching for an action-packed game like Space Engineers, I recommend giving this one a try.

To be honest, I felt like I was playing a more traditional shooter than I had been with any of the other games on this list. I realize this isn’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for a game that includes both space exploration and action, this is worth a look.

8. Besiege

What on earth does this have to do with space engineers? I know what you’re thinking, but bear with me.

Besiege, in my opinion, is a game that you’ll like if you’re a fan of games like Space Engineers.

Besiege requires you to construct a powerful medieval catapult. If somebody tries to steal your resources, you’ll need to utilize this weapon. When it comes to designing a catapult or other combat machine, you have a number of options.

Because Besiege is a physics-based game, it’s a blast to construct your fortress. It’s important to think before you act because you need to ensure that your aim is accurate and that you’ll hit your target. In other words, it’s not a game about exploring the cosmos in space.

Besiege, in my opinion, is a game that you will love a lot.

9. Medieval Engineers

Medieval Engineers

The medieval theme will continue with this one, but please bear with me. With its medieval background, Medieval Engineers is a game of strategy.

In this “sandbox” game, you have a wide variety of “toys” at your disposal. To ensure the survival of your settlement, you’ll need to build and maintain things like castles, weaponry, and other gadgets.

It’s not only about surviving; you must also be prepared for conflict with those who want take what you have.

The reasons why I think Medieval Engineers is worth your time. Because of its sandbox gameplay, it offers a lot of things you can build, and in general, it is a pretty complex game.

Medieval Engineers is an excellent game if you enjoy making things and then putting them to use.

10. Factorio

Factorio is a game that a friend of mine swears about, and when I finally got around to playing it, I was blown away. An essential part of the plan is the creation of manufacturing facilities.

There is a point in time when your factories will be nearly totally automated. Getting it to function perfectly is a significant deal, and you’ll be beaming with pride when you do.

One factory isn’t enough. Yes, you may create as many as you want, but keeping them all functioning smoothly is a major undertaking.

The comparison to Space Engineers may seem a bit far-fetched, but if you enjoy building things and micromanaging them, this might be a good fit for you.

You’ll feel quite at home in this place. If you enjoyed Theme Park-style games like Space Engineers, I think you’ll enjoy Factorio just as much.

11. Garry’s Mod (Wild Card)

Garry’s Mod (Wild Card)

If you think about it, placing Garry’s Mod on a list with games like Space Engineers may seem like an overstatement at first glance.

If you enjoyed Space Engineers, you’ll have a blast with Garry’s Mod. You may create your own games, levels, and scenarios by utilizing the game’s countless tools. You’re free to play in the large sandbox however you choose. Alternatively, you can explore the work of other Garry’s Mods gamers.

Garry’s Mod has so much to offer that, as absurd as it may sound, it might be difficult to know where to begin.

The only constraints you face in Garry’s Mod are those defined by your own imagination, which is a large part of the game’s appeal. It’s mind-boggling how many options you have in this game!

12. 7 Days To Die (Wild Card)

First and foremost, let me mention that 7 Days To Die is a fantastic video game. It’s the best zombie survival horror game out there, with millions of copies sold.

If you want to keep the undead brain munchers at bay, it’s essential that you master the building and resource management aspects of the game. Survival mode is one option, but it’s not the only option. You can join forces with others to form a complex where you can fight off the undead and other gamers together.

This is an extremely popular game, despite the fact that it has nothing to do with space. A lot of what I like about Space Engineers can be found in this game. It’s a first-person shooter with RPG features. People get glued to games like this because they have so many facets to them.

Some of the finest games, like Space Engineers, have been a blast to look at. There are a few that stand out above the others. What a terrific game, Kerbal Space Program! Despite its charming appearance, this game has a lot of substance, so be prepared for it to take over your life if you play it for long periods of time. Osiris: New Dawn is another game I’d like to highlight. I’m aware that this game has a mixed reputation online, but I had a great time playing it and really appreciated how action-packed it was. Despite the fact that it is not set in space, I highly recommend you take a look at 7 Ways To Die.

If you’re a fan of Space Engineers, I’m confident that you’ll enjoy at least one of the games on this list. While some of these games may appear a little “out there” when compared to Space Engineers, I still believe that they have a lot of what makes Space Engineers so enjoyable.
