10 Best Selling Capcom Games That You Should Know Update 04/2024

Best Selling Capcom Games

Before Resident Evil VII came out last year, Capcom had some dips in sales. Since then, though, the company has been on a roll. Every year, there is at least one, if not several, songs that fans like all over. These things all mean that Capcom is one of Japan’s biggest companies, and it has a lot of different games and other things to show for its 40-plus years in business.

It can be hard to figure out which one has sold the most because companies like Capcom like to keep specifics out of the public eye. Press statements and data show that these numbers are at least close to what one can think of as the real numbers. It’s a real shame that Okami, Dino Crisis, and Breath of Fire did not make the cut.

Lost Planet

Lost Planet

About 6 million copies of Lost Planet have been sold. The game was made for the Xbox 360 in 2006. This means the last game was Lost Planet 3 in 2013. This means it didn’t work on systems from two generations ago. They can be played on Xbox systems, so that’s a good thing. This was Capcom’s Western take on the Monster Haunter formula, but they couldn’t seem to decide if they wanted it to be a Western-style shooter or a story-driven shooter, so they kept putting it back and forth.

Phoenix Wright

Starting in 2001 for the Game Boy Advance, Phoenix Wright has made a lot of money with its games. About 7 million copies have been sold. In Japan, this is called Gyakuten Saiban. The West didn’t get to see this series until 2005, when the first game was made for the DS.

Last year, Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2: Naruhodo Ryunosuke no Kakugo came out for the 3DS in Japan only.

Onimusha

Onimusha

At least 8 million copies of the game Onimusha have been made. It started in 2001 for the PS2. Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, which came out in 2006, was the last game. Other than the remaster in 2019, many thought Capcom would remaster other games or make a new one. People in Japan only got Onimusha Soul, but it doesn’t seem like that game should be counted. People who are fans of the show can bet that they will see something in 2001.

Marvel Vs Capcom

Marvel vs. Capcom started as an arcade game in 1998. It has sold about 9 million units, which is a lot. For arcades, X-Men vs. Street Fighter was the first game in the X-Men vs. Street Fighter series. There were many different games called Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. The first game to use the name was in 1998. Semantics aside, it is a crossover fighter adored by many but the last entry was all the way back in 2017, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, which had a mixed reception.

Dead Rising

Dead Rising

Starting in 2006, Dead Rising was made for the Xbox 360 and has sold about 14 million units. Last but not least, this was the fourth game for last-generation consoles in 2016. It didn’t have ports or DLC. With this series and Resident Evil, not to mention Onimusha since that is samurai zombies, Capcom made a lot of money off of the zombie genre. By the time the fourth game came out, fans were getting tired.

Devil May Cry

There was a game called Devil May Cry that started in 2001 for the PlayStation 2. It has sold about 22 million copies. After some breaks between games, Devil May Cry 5 was the last big one that made this series great again. When it comes to reviews, that’s what I mean For Capcom, it didn’t sell as well as they had hoped. It’s not clear if it will hide again. For people who are really into the show, they’re hoping that it will stay around for a long time.

Mega Man

Mega Man

A lot of people have played Mega Man games. They started in 1987 for the NES and have sold about 36 million units so far. Mega Man is another Capcom hero who goes away and comes back a few times, like Pac-Man. Unless you count Rockman X DiVE, which was a 2020 phone game. Mega Man 11 came out in 2018. Originally, Mega Man 11 was supposed to be the Blue Bomber’s big comeback, but it didn’t work out that way. Old fans were mixed, and new fans were excited and angry.

Street Fighter

Street Fighter began as an arcade game in 1987 and has sold about 45 million units. It would not be able to get going until the second game came out in 1991. There’s no way to say that it changed the arcade scene in a true sense of the word. In the fight games, developers from all over the world tried to get the magic of the game. Some people did a great job, while others did a terrible job. Street Fighter V was the last main game released in 2016. Capcom has re-released the game many times, the most recent of which was in 2020, with new characters and modes added.

Monster Hunter

Monster Hunter Rise

About 65 million units of Monster Hunter have been sold so far. It started in 2004 for the PS2. This was big in Japan for more than a decade. It didn’t catch on in the West. That is, until Monster Hunter World came out and made it even more fun.

This series is now more popular, which means that Capcom is making more money from a bigger group of people. The new game, Monster Hunter Rise, is set to come out on the Nintendo Switch in March.

‘Resident Evil’

“Resident Evil” is probably not a surprise to anyone who has played a Capcom video game. There are 117 million copies of the popular games out there, according to Capcom.

“Biohazard” is the name of a survival horror video game series in Japan called “Resident Evil.” It’s about viruses that make biological weapons out of people. A “Resident Evil” game came out in 1996, and the last one, “Resident Evil Village,” came out in 2021.
