Graveyards are often eerie and sad, making them ideal settings for powerful anime moments. Cemetery scenes are always memorable, whether it’s an emotional visit to the grave of someone you love, an investigation into the unusual manner in which that person died, or even an attempt at a daring dare set up by a group of naughty teens. 10. The Scouts Find Ilse Langnar’s Shrine from Shingeki no Kyojin OVA (Attack on Titan: Ilse’s Journal) – Episode 1

During a reconnaissance mission, Hange discovers a titan and decides to capture it for future study. Titans may be hazardous, and Levi is forced to kill one when it gets within an arm’s length of swallowing one of his men. An elderly Scouting Regiment soldier’s decapitated head is buried in a tree hollow, and an old bloodstained journal is found beneath it detailing the last moments of the girl’s life.

Her entire squad had been wiped out, leaving her stranded in the woods with no horse or ODM gear. Ymir-sama” was a strange talking titan that seemed to revere her, but when she questioned it about why its type consumes humans, it grew distressed and killed her. Ilse resembled Ymir so much that the titan recognized her as Ymir’s former Eldian companion. Although Ilse’s life was cut short, the journal she kept during it has become a priceless historical artifact.

9. A Ghost Wants to See His Grandson Again from Ojamajo Doremi (Magical DoReMi) – Episode 30

At the temple where he was born and raised, Yamauchi-kun is responsible for the upkeep of the grounds. After watching his grandfather carve bamboo animals with his grandson, he suddenly died before he could complete the horse toy that they had promised to build together. To make matters worse, Yamauchi’s grandfather’s spirit appears in front of everyone but him, despite the fact that Yamauchi had promised to apologize to his grandfather.

Yamauchi and his grandfather are reunited and the horse is completed with the help of our adorable little witches. Yamauchi’s grandfather had tried to seek advice from others before addressing the ghost, but decided to meet with him in person.. He visits his grandfather’s grave and chats pleasantly with him the following day, having finally fulfilled his vow.

What’s the point of a graveyard if you can’t use its eerie aura to your advantage? Tsuna and the gang take a break from the seriousness of the Varia and Future arcs to visit a neighboring cemetery on a dare. Romeo’s ghost attempts to lure Tsuna and Lambo into the afterlife with him, but the true fear begins when Bianchi’s boyfriend dies from her poison cooking.

Lambo reverts to his adult persona, which resembles Romeo in appearance, in order to use an electric strike that is ineffectual against ghosts to drive Romeo back into his portal. When Bianchi attacks both Lambo and Romeo with poisoned food, the vengeful spirit eventually dissipates. It came down to the wire!

7. Tooru and Friends Have a Picnic at Her Mother’s Grave from Fruits Basket 1st Season – Episode 14

Kyoko Honda, Tooru’s mother, was a kind and positive role model for her daughter and her circle of friends. Tooru, Uo, Hana, Yuki, and Kyo accompany Tooru to her mother’s grave on the one-year anniversary of her death. Tooru’s bottled-up grief, Kyo’s unexplained regret over Kyoko’s death, and Uo’s loyalty to Kyoko as a way of thanking her for pulling her out of a bad place in life are all introduced in this scene, which is key to the tale. Kyoko would have approved of the picnic in front of the tombstone at the end of the tour.

6. Awkward Father-Son Time at Yui’s Grave from Neon Genesis Evangelion – Episode 15

Shinji and his father have a strained relationship, as evidenced by this awkward visit to Shinji’s mother’s grave in episode 15. A visit to the headstone of a woman whose body was never located is unnecessary, according to Gendo. On top of that, Shinji is of no value to him save as an EVA pilot, and he has already begun to replace his wife Yui with the nearly similar Rei. While his son is left alone in an empty graveyard, he is whisked away in a helicopter by his father, who abandons him to mourn his mother. Apparently Shinji isn’t the only one who tries to avoid dealing with his issues…

After Riko is attacked by the Orb Piercer, Nanachi steps in to help out as a do-it-yourself surgeon. He also discovers an overgrown cemetery at the back of her refuge. In spite of the fact that Nanachi is a good person, she has an ulterior motive: she takes dying cave raiders with no hope of recovery as test subjects to find a means to assassinate her companion, Mitty. She buryes their bodies in a peaceful flower field and displays their possessions in her home as a mark of respect for the lives she had to take. Is Reg the only one who has the ability to save Mitty from her dreadful fate?

3. Erza’s Imaginary Funeral from Fairy Tail – Episode 41

To save Natsu, Erza must decide whether to risk her own life or allow the Tower of Heaven to claim another of her friends’ lives. She imagines a memorial service where her friends are overcome with grief and sorrow over the loss of a loved one. As Natsu continues to assert that Erza is still alive and cannot have died, he becomes increasingly agitated. Who would have thought that Fairy Tail could be so heart wrenching?

Natsu and the rest of the Fairy Tail crew rescued Erza from the Etherion blast, so she rejects the thought of sacrificing herself for her colleagues and wakes up to find that they saved her. She has made a pledge to herself that she will never longer sacrifice her own happiness for the benefit of her pals.

2. Mitsuki Discovers Eichi’s Tombstone from Full Moon wo Sagashite (Searching for the Full Moon) – Episode 42

As an idol singer, Mitsuki’s ultimate goal in life is to reunite with her childhood friend Eichi. To achieve her goal of becoming an actress, she makes a deal with Shinigami to temporarily remove her fatal throat tumor and artificially age herself several years so she may perform at key auditions. Only a tombstone greets her when she makes it to the top of the ladder and arrives in the United States to visit her long-lost beloved Eichi.

Emotionally distraught after learning of the death of her best friend Eichi, Mitsuki sits down in front of his grave to await death in the cold winter weather. When she is saved by her friends, she understands that her life has purpose even if Eichi isn’t there to cheer her on.

While his father forced him to consume the philosopher’s stone, Hohenheim has lived for hundreds of years. After years of planning, the only thing he wanted to do with Trisha was grow old and die together, but he couldn’t stay with them because his father was going to do the same thing. He returns to Trisha’s tomb in Resembool in one of the anime’s closing scenes after Father is defeated. After rescuing his sons and completing his mission, he dies with a grin on his face, exhausted but satisfied. He was finally able to fulfill a modest goal and spend eternity with his wife after a long and arduous journey.
