The way the game progresses and the choices you can make mean that your abilities and journey may not be the same across multiple playthroughs. There are more tools for tracking these changes and evolution over time than in traditional RPGs. They’re also about giving you really good combat mechanics and making the best use of your squad as a group working toward the same goal.

WASTELAND 3
Wasteland 3 is the sequel to Wasteland 2, which came out in 2014. This series has been quietly competing with games like Fallout when it comes to post-apocalyptic RPGs. Instead of going down the first-person route, Wasteland has kept the Fallout game’s premise and made its battles a lot more like XCOM. Wasteland 3 is bigger and better than the last game, but there are still some technical issues that need to be worked out.
You won’t find a more well-rounded role-playing game this year. It has clever writing, an interesting setting, and an emphasis on making sure you feel the consequences of your choices. STAR RENEGADES
Roguelike/Trpg mashup: You’ll enjoy losing over and over again in this roguelike/trpg mashup. It’s against an evil, all-powerful, dimension-hopping empire. With each real-life battle, you just jump to the next one and keep what you’ve learned so far as you fight there, too.
When you play Star Renegades, you get everything you need. It has very complex combat mechanics and a beautiful pixel-art world, as well as RPG elements that can be a little slow but add to the story. If you play it again and again, things start to get the same. This has always been a tricky thing to do with this kind of game, but it’s getting better. Otherwise, this game is worth your time. EXPEDITIONS: ROME
As a turn-based RPG, Logic Artists has spent the last ten years perfecting its own unique blend of exploration and mechanics that are all tied to the game’s main theme. After making Expeditions: Conquistadors, the studio moved us to ancient times and the height of the Roman Republic with Expeditions: Vikings, so we can see how powerful the Vikings were.

As far as Expeditions games go, this one is the best so far. When your character is in Rome, he or she flees the capital and Senate machinations in order to make a name for himself or herself in one of Rome’s many war zones. A small group of people, the speculatores, will be your friends. But you’ll also be in charge of a huge army that has almost no personality of its own.
In this game, you lead a group of people around the map on quests as part of a military campaign. This is a continuation of the series’ exploration tradition. You’ll be in charge of setting up alliances, scouting, and getting rid of important obstacles in your way. During the game, you can move your legion around the campaign area to set up bases and protect resources. WARHAMMER 40,000: MECHANICUS
When it comes to licencing deals, “nu-age” Games Workshop is being a little more creative. They are, however, wary of letting too much happen in the realm of turn-based tactics. Because, after all, that’s what their main table-top products are about, and it wouldn’t be good for a digital game to compete with the real thing. If you like turn-based strategy games, you should check out Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach, which is one of the best out there. There’s also Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus from Bulwark, which is even better.
When you play this game, you’ll be in charge of a group of Tech Priests and nerds who fight against the Necron forces. This game is all about the Adeptus Mechanicus. In this small-unit tactical RPG, it has all the features you’d expect from a game like this one. It’s also very pretty, too. The tactical battles are interesting. Tech priests don’t have the same fighting skills as the Space Marines, but they can still get into fights. There are no concepts like cover, overwatch, and so on in this game. Instead, the focus is on making the best use of your skills and tricks. An excellent licenced game, and a good TRPG as well.
FELL SEAL: ARBITER’S MARK
There’s a good chance that you like tactical RPGs because you played Final Fantasy Tactics at some point in your life. That’s great, but I bet you’ve also been running after that dragon ever since. Well, Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark is here to fill the hole in your strategy heart that Fell Seal left behind. Make sure you don’t get fooled by the game’s bad story and hints at modernity. This is the FFT game you’ve been looking for for years. I think Arbiter’s Mark is the best game out there. It’s beautiful, it’s detailed, and there are secret classes you can get.
There’s the same battle system, characters who can do different jobs, and even terrain height considerations in this modern version of the PlayStation classic, which is still fun to play today. Arbiter’s Mark hits all the right notes and almost never makes mistakes when it comes to gaming homages. This is a rare thing when it comes to video game homages.
DIVINITY: ORIGINAL SIN 2
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a very long RPG, but it also has a combat system that allows for a lot of different ways to fight and a lot of replayability. In the beginning, you may only be thinking about how to get your characters out of harm’s way while also taking out your enemy. After a few fights, you’ll notice that environmental effects and elemental combos can play a big role in making combat work in your favour. It will be a while before you can figure out how to use skills and weapons, spells and other things in the environment to outwit your enemies (and maybe even your friends) in a flashy way.
That’s not even taking into account the fact that you can play around with the Game Master Mode and make test scenarios to see how certain ideas you’re thinking about would work out without affecting your save files. Better still, you could make campaigns for your friends to enjoy and play around in at your own pace. This is the tactical Dungeon Master’s dream come true, with Matthew Mercer himself giving a great example of how this tool can be used in different ways.
PIRATES OUTLAWS
Pirates Outlaws is a turn-based RPG that lets you explore the world and level up your deck so you can fight the most violent pirates.
A lot of people like this game because it’s easy to play and has good gameplay to go with the well-lit world of pirates.
Find the most gold and relics so you can quickly get to the higher levels, where you’ll meet a lot of barbaric pirates who will try to kill you with their swords. There are a lot of RPG elements in Pirates Outlaws, but this game is more like a card game. The turn-based strategy is the best part of this game.
Even though Pirates Outlaws was just released in 2019, it was praised by many RPG fans and got a good score from all the important ranking companies and critics.
GRANDIA
Turn-based RPGs were the best in the 90s, and Grandia was one of the best from that time. It had a great story about a boy who lost his father and went on a mission to steal a magical item.
There is a lot of third-person turn-based combat in this game, even though the story is very slow. You can show off your skills against enemies who aren’t very scary.
A well-written story was all that mattered in the old days. The mechanics and gameplay of Grandia will make you think back to those days when that was all. When you play this game, things like levelling up your characters and learning new skills will be the most important things to pay attention to when you play.
Developers decided to make a remastered version of this game in 2019. Grandia was so good that they decided to do this. People who like turn-based RPGs should check this one out.
