Grind mechanics come in many shapes and sizes in almost every type of game. You can fish in Farcry, or power through quests quickly in your favourite MMO. To see what other types of games we have, click here.
If you want to grind, these are our top picks.
1. World of Warcraft
There are still a lot of grinding games out there. Is WoW still the best one? It is (was?) the most popular MMO in the world, and it has a lot of new things to keep things interesting. In the last few weeks, there has been a lot of people leaving WoW because of the news that California is suing Blizzard and Activision for sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination. Because of this, many popular streamers stopped playing World of Warcraft. This sparked a boycott of WoW movement, which led to other games like Final Fantasy 14 and Elder Scrolls Online getting the people that WoW had lost.
It’s great about WoW if you can put those ongoing problems aside, which many people have decided they can’t. The game keeps you going up, unlocking new parts of the world for you to explore and grind in. Because it’s the most popular MMO by the number of servers, it’s fun to show off your cool loot and levels on servers with a lot of people. There are many ways to make friends and join a group of people who share your interests in WoW.
Blizzard has done a great job with the lore of the Warcraft world. If you want to level up to 120, it takes a long time, but because there is so much going on in the background, it’s fun. The work doesn’t stop when you reach the top level, though. It’s not over yet. You can still get materials for things like mounts, armour, and weapons, as well as for raids and harder raids. You get the idea. It’s one of the best grinding games out there if you’re a PC gamer who’s been playing for a long time.
2. Destiny 2
Destiny 2 combines elements of games that are played online, role-playing games, and first-person shooters. Yes, there is a lot going on in Destiny, but it doesn’t seem like it. We gamers who like to shoot and grind can play there online. In the same way that Warframe has both PvE and PvP modes, but the game is geared more toward PvE. When you finish all the missions and raids, there is a prestige mode where you can show off your skills (much harder versions of each raid). If you want to play with your friends, this is a great game to pick up. It is easy to play because it is available on all the major platforms.
Like Warframe, there are a lot of different loadouts and items that can be changed. There are a lot of great graphics and environments in Destiny 2. Forsaken’s end-game zone, the Dreaming City, is very pretty. It has powerful loot, so it’s very pretty. Green mountains and blue crystalline rock are dotted with extravagant alabaster structures that look like they’re made out of gold or silver. Destiny 2 is a game that Bungie wants to keep interesting. Between in-game events and add-ons, there’s always something new to do or see.
3. Diablo III
Another game from Blizzard? Is this the same company? You’re right. Blizzard Studios makes some of the best grinding games on the market all of the time. For example, Blizzard has made the dungeon crawler perfect in the form of their Diablo video games. A new game called Diablo III is out, and there’s a lot of cool loot worth grinding for. It’s only for PCs. When you play Diablo 3, you can play with your friends on the couch or online. It’s available on all the major platforms (even Nintendo Switch now), so you can do that with your friends or go online. A lot of people now call this game a “Action RPG,” which is a great name for the game. A lot of people live in Hell, and you have to fight your way through a lot of them. You get a lot of money as you do it, too!
Listen to everything and watch the videos the first time through because it’s worth it. The storyline is great. A few playthroughs and you’ll notice that after a while, the storyline is just noise in the background. Progress is kept interesting by beating more and more difficult bosses and the Reaper of Souls expansion pack. With a new class, you can start over again when you reach the top of your level and have a good set of clothes and weapons. There are seven classes to choose from: Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer, Witch Doctor, and Wizard. There are also two other classes: Barbarian and Wizard.
In Warframe, which is free to play, you can play for a long time and get a lot of things. Developed by Digital Extremes, an indie studio that went from small to big thanks to Warframe. This is a new game that they made. They do a great job of listening to their fans and making changes to the game based on what they hear. They’ve added a lot of new things to the game since it first came out. Among the things that we really like about Digital Extremes is that they are very brave and try a lot of new things. Instead of making sure everything is perfect and playing it safe, Warframe developers are risk-takers and go for the unknown with their game. Players work together to fight the environment (PvE) in space, but there is also a PvP mode.
With your character, you can vault, run on walls, and shoot from the air. You’re kind of like Bruce Lee in space. There are a lot of cosmetic items, weapons, upgrades, and other things that can help you play the game. Because of how many options there are, each player has a character that is unique. People who play Warframe say it starts off slowly and takes some time to get used to, but it’s worth the wait. Destiny and Borderlands are two of the best games out there. This game is a real rival to them.
5. Path of Exile
Path of Exile is one of the best free-to-play RPG games out there. It’s right up there with Diablo III as one of the best games to grind through. On PCGamer, it got a 90/100, which is very good. A new build, weapon or boss will keep you coming back for more. When you play this game, you can choose from seven different classes, which keeps things interesting and fresh. A lot of people we know have played this game for more than five years.
When you start the game, you are sent away from your home in a dark fantasy world. Wraeclast is a world that is full of wilds and dangerous people. Your character now has to deal with these things. There is a good mix of large outdoor areas and caves and dungeons. Because it looks a lot like Diablo 3, we’d put this game in the Action RPG genre, too. Interesting, Grinding Gear Games didn’t make Path of Exile have in-game money. The economy is based on a bartering system that works well and is a good idea.
Runescape is as hard as it gets. There are more than 10,000 hours worth of content in this popular MMORPG. There are 27 unique skills, hundreds of quests, and many epic fights. Whether you’re levelling wood in the Wilderness or sneaking past demon monkeys on Ape Atoll Island, the game has something for every type of player.
The skill system is known for being hard and taking a long time. It takes 50-100 hours to level up the skills from 1 to 99. The longer skills can take more than 500 hours. A lot of the skills, such as mining or fishing, make new resources that help power the real-world economy and the Grand Exchange in the game, which is based on it (auction house). There are some people who just want to level up, but there are also people who want to level up, fight in competitive games, or make money.
There has been a lot of new content added to Runescape over the last 18 years. With the game’s new “Old School” mode, like the one in World of Warcraft Classic, there’s a lot to do. As long as you want, you’ll have a great time on this exciting journey through the world of Gielinor!
Today, many multiplayer games have “Battle Passes.” For people who don’t know, Battle Passes give players who keep playing a game a lot of goodies (mostly cosmetic) that they can use. It’s like Battle Passes reward you for putting in a lot of hard work. Riot’s team tactical shooter is all about the grind and Battle Passes, and it’s a big fan of them.
When you first start, you only have five agents to choose from. All of the agents who aren’t already unlocked can be reached by completing tiers of their personal agent cards. The number of experience points needed to reach each tier increases. The Battle Pass is the same. The more you unlock, the more difficult it is to finish the whole Battle Pass. As it turns out, Valorant has daily and weekly missions that can help you get a lot of experience points, and in the most recent update, you can get even more XP if you buy the Battle Pass.
You can’t enjoy Minecraft if you don’t grind. They go together. It doesn’t matter if you have the smartest and most intuitive Redstone inventions. The whole point of the game is to get things. Making long tunnels for diamonds or just sitting still at the base of a mob farm isn’t enough to defeat the Ender Dragon. You need a lot of time to do this.
There is no way to get around the system with microtransactions, so you can’t get around it. Unless you’re speed running, everything in Minecraft takes time. It’s important to know that if you start playing Minecraft, you’re going to be playing for a long time. In fact, Minecraft is the second best-selling video game of all time because people like to work hard.
