Melanie Carmichael, a New York-based up-and-coming fashion designer, has had virtually all of her childhood dreams come true since she was a little girl. She has a successful career and is New York City’s JFK-like fiancee. When he asks her to marry him, she says yes, but she doesn’t forget about her roots in the South. Her husband back home also refuses to divorce her seven years after she sent divorce papers. This is a huge problem for her. As a last resort, she decides to rush down to the south and force him to sign the papers. Awkward situations make her realize that her old life in the south was far superior to her new life in New York City.
2. The Best Years Of Our Lives (1946)
Three World War II servicemen from varying social strata are the focus of the story as they learn to adjust to civilian life after the war. It’s hard for Al Stephenson to reconcile his loyalty to ex-servicemen with new commercial realities when he returns to a powerful banking position in the banking industry.
Fred Derry is a common worker who struggles to keep a job and maintain his marriage. Homer Parrish, whose hands were badly burned during World War II, isn’t sure if his fiancee’s feelings are ones of love or pity. After returning home, each of the veterans faces a crisis, and each of these crises is a microcosm of the experiences of many American soldiers who returned to an alien world.
3. Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist, two young men working as sheep herders on Brokeback Mountain, get to know each other. They begin as complete strangers before quickly becoming close friends. They become closer as they get to know each other better over the course of the episodes.
They develop a stronger bond one night after a particularly wild night of drinking. The rest of the summer is spent in blissful romance as a result. They break up at the end of the summer because they can’t deal with their feelings for one another. They’ve been married for four years and each has a family: Ennis in Wyoming with his wife and two daughters, and Jack in Texas with his wife and son.
They reunite because they’re still missing each other and realize how much they depend on each other. They are undeniably incomplete without one another, so they embark on a series of “fishing trips” to fill the void. After years of struggle, tragedy strikes the couple’s relationship.
4. The Invention Of Lying (2009)
Everybody tells the truth – and pretty much anything they’re thinking – in this world. Screenwriter Mark Bellison is about to lose his job. Having a short, chunky build and a flat nose means he’ll never make it to first base with the woman he wants most in his life: Anna. While in a bank, he tells a lie on the spur of the moment, with disastrous results. Then, as his mother lies dying, terrified of the abyss that awaits her, Mark creates fiction to distract him. 5. 27 Dresses (2008)

6. Wild Tales (2014)
There are a total of six acts in the film. On a plane, a music critic and a model discover they have a common friend named Pasternak. They quickly learn that Pasternak is well-known among the ship’s passengers and crew. Is this just a fluke? Waitress in “The Rats” recognizes her customer as the loan shark responsible for a family tragedy. The cook suggests that they add rat poison to his food, but the waitress says no.
However, the obstinate cook insists on carrying out her scheme. “The Strongest”: An argument between two drivers on a lonely highway has tragic results. When a demolition engineer’s car is towed for parking in the wrong place, the towing company employee gets into an argument with him. Because of this, he decides to exact vengeance on the corrupt towing company as well as the city council. “The Proposal”: A wealthy family’s irresponsible son causes a fatal overnight hit-and-run accident that kills the pregnant woman.
While his parents are still asleep, he wakes up his father, who then calls the attorney on his behalf. It’s been suggested by the boy’s parents that they pay the groundskeeper to take responsibility for him. It doesn’t take long for the father to realize that he’s been conned out of thousands of dollars by both his lawyer and the public prosecutor in charge of the probe. What decision will he make?
7. The Notebook (2004)
Resident Duke reads a love story to an elderly woman suffering from senile dementia and memory loss in a nursing home. Allie Hamilton, a wealthy seventeen-year-old from the late 1930s, is on vacation in Seabrook for the summer. Noah Calhoun, a local worker, meets Allie at a carnival and the two quickly fall in love.
While visiting an old house that Noah has his heart set on buying and restoring, Noah and Allie try to have a passionate encounter but are interrupted by their mutual friend. The relationship between Allie and Noah is frowned upon by Allie’s parents, who accompany her to New York despite their disapproval. In the course of a year, Noah sends 365 letters to Allie Hamilton, but her mother Anne Hamilton never delivers them to her. Noah, his best friend Fin, and Allie join the military three years later when the United States officially enters World War II.
In the hospital, she meets wounded soldier Lon Hammond. The couple reunites after the war, going on dates and eventually getting engaged to each other thanks to Lon, who is both wealthy and handsome. Meanwhile, Noah purchases and renovates an old house, which attracts a large number of potential buyers. The photo of Noah and his house appears in a newspaper, and Allie is torn between her feelings for Noah and her commitment to Lon when she sees it. While this is going on, Duke stops reading to the elderly lady because his children have come to see him.
8. Original Sin (2001)
Choosing a mail order bride comes as a surprise to the man who selects her. She claims she sent him fake photos so he’d love her for who she really is and not just for her looks. But in reality, she’s a con artist, prostitute, and actress who works with another actor to bilk men out of their money for their own gain. What she doesn’t anticipate is falling in love with her new husband and having to choose between him and her sadistic ex-lover. Contains graphic sex, such as when Thomas Jane uses a knife to sever Jolie’s back during their passionate encounter.
9. Blue Valentine (2010)
Dean Pereira and Cindy Heller Pereira have a young daughter named Frankie and are a young working class couple – Dean is a painter and Cindy is a nurse in a medical clinic. They’re both young at heart, but the life they’ve eked out together and the experiences they had leading up to their marriage have left scars on them both despite that. High school dropout Dean is the product of a dysfunctional household with no real mother figure in his life.
He had no plans to get married or start a family, despite falling in love with Cindy at first sight. In spite of Cindy’s belief that he has much more potential in life, he doesn’t have any professional ambitions beyond his current job, which he enjoys because he feels he can drink a beer at 8 a.m. without it interfering with his work.
A dysfunctional family history runs in Cindy’s veins. Her mother and father didn’t exactly lead by example when it came to a happy marriage and family life. After a serious relationship with Bobby Ontario, she married Dean. That marriage was forever changed by that relationship. Dean and Cindy leave without Frankie for an overnight getaway that could reveal whether or not their marriage can withstand its many problems.
