The fact that films involving pandemics and disease outbreaks are suddenly considered’realistic’ is a testament to how insane the world has been over the last year and a half. When the going gets tough, some people watch reality TV shows about arranged marriages, while others watch movies about the globe being overrun by deadly pandemics. And if you fall into the latter category, please accept my warmest greetings. From the comfort of your own home, you may watch movies about pandemics and zombies.
1. Contagion (2011)
Steven Soderbergh’s suspenseful thriller has had a resurgence in popularity due to the film’s alarming resemblance to the outbreak of the recent pandemic. The film recounts the efforts of medical researchers and health officials all across the world to contain an outbreak of a fatal virus, which is spread via respiratory droplets. It offers a realistic assessment of how society would respond in the event of a pandemic, and it does so in an uncanny manner that mirrors the current state of affairs. Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, and Bryan Cranston are among the film’s ensemble cast members.
2. World War Z (2013)
Actor Brad Pitt acts as a former United Nations investigator in this action-horror picture loosely based on Max Brooks’ best-selling novel. Gerry (Pitt) and his family find refuge on a US Navy ship as a mystery zombie virus begins spreading over the world. The government is scrambling to analyze the outbreak. Virologists believe that the zombie outbreak is caused by a virus, and that if they can find the virus’ source, they will be able to develop a vaccine. The investigation of how and why the pandemic occurred, as well as possible countermeasures, falls to Gerry.

An actual Ebola outbreak in Zaire (the nation from which the virus originates in the movie) reportedly took place during this film’s theatrical debut. Patrick Dempsey and Kevin Spacey join Donald Sutherland in the cast. Cuba Gooding Jr. and Donald Sutherland also appear.
4. Cargo (2017)
One of the few zombie movies that manages to discover a human connection that lends it an emotional weight is the Australian post-disaster horror-drama. Andy (Martin Freeman) has been infected with a virus and has only 48 hours left before he dies in rural Australia following a terrible pandemic. To keep his daughter safe, he must now look desperately for a new house.
5. 28 Days Later (2002)
A mysterious, extremely contagious, and rage-inducing illness has caused a societal breakdown, and the plot of the film centres on it. He wakes up 28 days after the original outbreak and finds himself in a now-deserted metropolis, which has been abandoned. Following an almost deadly attack by some infected people, he is saved by two survivors and now they must find a way to survive in this new world. It was not only a critical and commercial success, but it also ranked among the highest-grossing pictures of that year.
6. Virus (2019)

Traveling by train from Seoul to Busan, Seok-woo (Gong Yoo) and his daughter witness a mysterious and horrific virus epidemic that swiftly devastates the country.
