10 Best Harem Comedy Anime That You Should Watching Update 03/2024

Best Harem Comedy Anime

What Is Harem Anime?

HRM is an anime genre where the main character is usually surrounded by many characters of the opposing sex (who are usually all potential love interests). Because it’s so specific and predictable, this genre is often thrown into the mix with romantic comedies, comedies, and ecchi.

There is a tendency for the protagonist to be male. A reverse harem anime is one in which the protagonist is a woman with many male suitors (reverse HRM).

I decided to put together a top 10 list of the greatest harem anime that you can watch and enjoy because this genre is becoming increasingly popular. Have a good time!

Also, if you’re looking for reverse harem anime, here are the top ten best examples of that subgenre.

10. Nagasarete Airantou

Nagasarete Airantou

It is about one guy and an isolated island full of girls in Nagaserete Airantou. In addition, because they’ve never seen one before, the females are all fascinated by him. As a result, they make an effort to track him down at all hours of the day and night. Ikuto Touhouin doesn’t like being pursued by a lot of girls, yet for most guys, this is a dream come true. In spite of this, this show is one of the best in its genre.

The plot revolves around 14-year-old Ikuto Touhouin, who is in the prime of his life. His father had gotten into a disagreement with him, so he decided to run away and go on vacation on a cruise ship instead. A life-changing adventure was the last thing from his imagination when planning his modest holiday. When the ship is attacked by a storm, he is pushed overboard and ends up on a strange island populated solely by, you guessed it, girls.

9. Trinity Seven

That one remarkable guy is surrounded by a cast of beautiful ladies. But there’s more to this series than that. This anime’s special trait is the uniqueness of its protagonist, which sets him apart from other anime protagonists. When it comes to his all-girl band, Arata Kasuga is like a wave in the ocean. He’s not naive at all, and he’s aware of every detail of his situation.

One of Arata Kasuga’s cousins, Hijiri Kasuga, goes missing and a mysterious magician is following him as a black sun appears in the sky, causing a phenomenon known as the Collapse Phenomenon. Arata decides to join a mage academy after he realizes what’s going on and takes the grimoire into his own hands. The Trinity Seven are the finest of the best when it comes to magic and skills, and he gets to meet them there.

8. Grisaia no Kajitsu

Grisaia no Kajitsu (2014)

This is the pinnacle of originality! You won’t find any typical HRM tropes or elements in Grisaia no Kaijutsu. For starters, this anime belongs to the subgenre of the psychedelic (a rarity for HRM). Among other things, this one has a lot of action and tension, which sets it apart from other thrillers. It manages to be both an HRM program and a psychological thriller at the same time. It all comes together beautifully.

The story takes place in a school specifically designed to help students who are out of control get back on track. There, we’ll meet five female college students, each of whom is hiding dreadful and regrettable secrets about their pasts. Everyone in the school was a girl till now. When a male student joins the class, everything changes. New student Kazami Yuuji may have the most contentious and darkest past of them all, despite everyone else’s dark secrets.

7. Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko (The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat)

Even while you may assume this show is nothing more than a mindless HRM rehash, you’re right and also wrong! You’re about to get a huge shock! It’s possible that the plot and coherence of Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko are both on the ordinary side. This is more than compensated for, though, by the characters (especially the main character). Harem? Check. Ecchi, please? Check. What about a sense of humor? Is there any chemistry here? Is the Moe factor (cuteness/adorability) checked? Countless numbers of ticks!

Youto Yokodera resolves to test the existence of a stone cat that gives wishes after learning about the presence of a stony cat that grants wishes in order to reveal his true personality to the world. He’s had enough of being viewed as innocent and pure, and he wants to show the world who he really is. Aside from the new connections he has made with a fellow wisher, though, his new life will soon be filled with surprises.

Harem Girl Archetypes

Most of the time, the women in harem anime follow a well-defined character archetype. Here are some of the most prevalent character types.

In order to keep their feelings for the protagonist hidden, tsundere characters put on a rough exterior to appear tough. When they’re not fighting, they’re tsundere, like Chitoge from Nisekoi.

It’s safe to say that these characters are a lot colder and more emotionless than usual. As a matter of fact, they can be warm-hearted.

It is customary for this character to be described as a “girl next door.” Most of the time, they are kind and have been around for a long time with the main character. They may be annoyed that the protagonist isn’t paying attention to them.

Characteristics associated with traditional Japanese femininity can be seen in the Yamato Nadeshiko. They are well-behaved and exude an air of refinement.

The Ojou is a rich and conceited character. In contrast to the Yamato Nadeshiko, they tend to espouse more traditional European notions of beauty.

6. Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata (Saekano)

Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata

An HRM anime series that has just premiered is this one. Even though the show has only shown a few episodes, I’m immediately impressed by how good it is. Even at number six on the list, I couldn’t resist mentioning it.

When it comes to its narrative and humor, Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata shines. Despite the fact that it is a regular HRM show, the show’s uniqueness is what makes it so compelling. I got sucked in from the very beginning and am still captivated. There has been nothing but greatness in the first few episodes. For a new HRM anime program, I think this has a lot of promise.

Among the school’s most prominent otaku, Aki Tomoyo, happens across a rare encounter with the girl who appears to be a match made in heaven. Even though he has no idea who the girl is, his heart begins to flutter, and he decides to make a game about it. Eriri Spencer Sawamura and Utaha Kasumigaoka, two of the most popular kids at his school, help him with his new endeavor at this time. He bumps into her again later in the day, and she appears to be the perfect match for him. The only problem is that she isn’t who he thought she was.

5. Nisekoi

Nisekoi is the epitome of good human resources management. Yes, that’s exactly what I was looking for! Even though it relies on a lot of the genre clichés, it succeeds because it has all the key elements. Rather than just being another HRM show, it manages to handle itself in such a way that it ceases to be perceived that way. It’s all about the execution and making the most of traditional tropes, and Nisekoi has nailed both of them.

When Raku Ichijou was a kid, he made a vow to a girl that if they ever got back together, they’d get married. Despite how long it’s been, he still wears the pendant the girl gave him. He had a crush on Kosaki Onodera when he is in high school. Because he is the sole heir to the Shuei-gumi yakuza family, he is compelled to accept a fabricated romance with Chitoge Kirisaki, the heir to the Bee Hive Gangsters clan. In the meantime, he must balance the fabricated relationship with his actual love for Kosaki at school.

4. Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (Haganai)

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Next

Boku Tomodachi ga Sukunai stands out because it uses an unusual premise in a familiar setting—school and clubs—to create a unique experience. Also, it has so many jokes that you’ll be chuckling your way through the entire film. It’s hard to believe, but the guy-surrounded-by-girls motif actually works well here. It’s hilarious to watch the awkward times. We’ve got an instant classic when we combine the humour with the perfect mix of themes.

Because of the color of his hair, Kodaka Hasegawa has always been viewed as a criminal. He meets a girl in high school who appears to be chatting to no one but insists that he is her friend while saying otherwise. He learns that she, too, has no friends, so they decide to start a club called the Neighbor Club to help each other meet new people. Other awkward individuals join the club as it gets started, participating in the activities that they believe friends should be doing together.

3. The World God Only Knows

In The World God Only Knows, Keima would have the largest harem of all time if the girls remembered everything they had been through. It’s not quite like that, though. A genuine HRM anime, this anime is about Keima, the number of girls he’s conquered, and how they forget everything when he conquers them.

Katsuragi Keima can conquer anything related to gaming (particularly dating games). Playing games has been the only thing he’s ever been good at. Later, a demon girl named Elucia approaches him, asking for his assistance in capturing freed souls that had taken up residence in the void of females’ hearts. If Keima can make the girls fall in love with him, he can manifest their souls and capture them in real life, just like he does with his dating games!

2. Date A Live

Date A Live (2013)

The smell of love quadrangles fills my nostrils. Is there more to it than just that? Shido has only one more task to complete: seduce the female spirits into falling in love with him using sweet talk and sleight of hand. It’s a date, and everyone is happy as a result of it, so Date A Live plays up to its name. Even still, Shido is the sole one who bears the brunt of the burden. If he’s having fun, it doesn’t really matter.

The whims of these misunderstood spirits have caused countless deaths in a world plagued by space quakes (destructive earthquakes generated by spirits). Ratatosk, an anti-spirit organization, implements a scheme one day. Because his sister is in charge of Ratatosk, a high-school student named Itsuka Shido is tasked with helping carry out the plan. In light of the fact that brute force has failed, Ratatosk encourages Shido to make friends with the spirits and gain their affections through peaceful resolutions.

1. To Love-Ru

It was an easy decision to give the top slot to one series over another. After all, To Love-Ru is the first thing that comes to mind when talking about HRM anime, including my own. Human Resources Management (HRM) guru Rito Yuuki is the best in the business. He’s surrounded by a slew of female admirers, including alien ones! Most of the time, this results in difficult situations, some of which even escalate to unforeseen outcomes. In my opinion, it’s one of the best forms of comedy out there! When it comes to the HRM crown of glory, To Love-Ru is a clear winner above all the other finalists.

Rito Yuuki is having difficulties in the love department. He can’t bring himself to tell the girl he likes at school that he has feelings for her. Then one day, things took a turn for the worst. When he was taking a bath, a female named Lala appeared in the tub and claimed to be an alien from the planet Deviluke. Furthermore, she is the target of a slew of aliens from her own world. Rito leaps into action to defend her, unaware that his actions may lead to a major misunderstanding in the future.
