Anime Like Grimgar Of Fantasy And Ash

For as long as he can remember, Cheeky Kid has been watching anime and reading manga. Doing so takes him into new realms of existence.

About Hai to Gensou no Grimgar

The anime series Hai to Gensou no Grimgar, popularly known as Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash (or simply: Grimgar), premiered in the winter of 2016. Beautiful but yet brutal, this tale follows several teenagers as they begin to discover their place in the world around them. As gamers, we’re used to the Grimgar universe, but it’s a completely new place for our cast of characters.

This season’s most eagerly awaited and must-see anime, Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, is set to premiere in the winter of 2016. However, it’s also one of those enthralling shows that you haven’t yet discovered. You may want to check out more shows that are similar to this one. Because of this, you’ll find a list of anime that are so similar to Grimgar that you’ll want more!

1. Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo

With each new case, the absurdity of the real-life RPG setting is raised to a new level of silliness.

When Kazuma Satou, a high school student gamer and shut-in, dies in the most absurd of circumstances, the “after-life” awaits him. He meets Aqua, a wacky goddess who gives him two options: “Go to heaven” or “Live in a new world and destroy the demon king!” are the two options that are available. This is the path that Kazuma takes, much to his delight as a gamer should! In addition to having the option of bringing anything he wants to the new planet, he chooses the most ridiculous item possible—the goddess Aqua!

And with that, the journey has begun! To survive in the new world and destroy the demon ruler, you’ll have to join forces with a kooky crew.

2. DanMachi

As a result, “Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Macchigatteiru Darou ka” is shortened to “DanMachi.” So many letters, isn’t it? Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, right?

DanMachi, as bizarre as it may sound, is actually rather good. But not in the sense of AWESOME, but in the sense of RELAXING, when we talk about “good”. You don’t have to think about it. The action and imagination are present, but it’s a calmer trip that will offer you a breath of fresh air.

Don’t get me wrong, DanMachi is a lot of fun. Besides, who could argue that a dungeon is a bad place to meet girls? Is there anyone else? I hope not. Bell Cranel is on board!

3. Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online

So, you’re saying that playing virtual internet games isn’t potentially hazardous? Take a second look!

Consider the case of Sword Art Online. Thousands of players logged in just to discover that they couldn’t log out for good! Because of this, all players were compelled, by the game’s rules, to continue playing until someone reached the final stage and defeated the boss. To make matters even more dire, the death penalty is real life as well as in-game. This is no longer a game! It’s the ultimate test of one’s will to live!

What do you think? Do you still desire to live somewhere else? Let us know if your gaming fantasies haven’t faded. Don’t get too carried away with your hopes and dreams.

4. Log Horizon

Mythology of an Elder? What’s that? Apparently, it’s yet another VR RPG where players got stuck! It’s a mess! What’s going on in the game industry?

To be fair to others who have come before, no one has died in this one. However, Shiroe, the protagonist of our story, is all about exploring the virtual world in which we all now live and trying to make sense of it all in the smallest of aspects. Despite this, wars are nonetheless inescapable. It is, after all, a game! Just…no one should be logging out.

As a fan of strategy and tactics, Log Horizon is an excellent choice.

5. No Game No Life

No Game No Life

Would you choose to take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime chance to travel to a fantastical world? Is there a yes or no answer? Yes, all the way for Sora and Shiro!

Bleak is the world’s greatest gaming duo, made up of Sora and Shiro. In the middle of the night, they receive a frightening email that challenges them to play a game and offers them the chance of seeing another world. In the universe of “Disboard,” everything is decided by (what else?!)…games!

Here is a list of must-see movies, and No Game No Life is definitely one of them.

6. Btooom!

You play video games? So, I’m assuming you’ve played any of the recent spate of violent video games with guns and bombs? Imagine if these simulations were actually happening in the real world. What a strange idea, isn’t it?

Btooom! has become Sakamoto Ryouta’s terrible reality! They’ve been dropped off on a deserted island with a few other unfortunates, where they’ve been placed on a stage designed for bombs and explosives. Yes, you read that correctly! Every one of them is now fighting for their lives on a stage, aided by…bombs!

Who will be the last one standing in this real-world game of death? The “Btooom!” real-world game has begun!

7. Overlord

Overlord (2015)

What happens when you’re the most powerful character in a video game that has gone real? Well, you filthy peasants, I’m going to use my powers and magic on you!

It is a game called Yggdrasil in which Momonga is a participant. How did he suddenly find himself in the middle of the game, even though it was in its latter stages? He finds himself in charge of a wide variety of NPCs, all of whom have personalities of their own. What is he going to do now?

It’s time for Momonga to step into his new role as the OVERLORD and take on the world!

8. Mondaichi-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?

The protagonists don’t wake up in a completely new world, but they’re close enough that it’s not a complete surprise. Because there’s agreement! This show’s protagonists are so sick of their mundane lives that they’re willing to risk everything to experience something new. It’s crazy, but it makes sense, doesn’t it?

“Mondaichi-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Desu yo?” “Isn’t It True That These Problem Children Are Coming From Another Planet?” And it’s true to its word! Problem children have arrived and are ready to make a ruckus that will be both entertaining and fun to watch! They’re formidable and impressive. Their “problem children” mentality is the only thing that requires treatment at this time.

In the end, the most important thing I can say about this program is that it’s a really good one, and it’s packed with exciting action sequences.

9. Ragnarok the Animation

Look what I found! Playing it is one of the best things you can do online. Ragnarok Online is a pioneer, a legend, and everything in between. There is an anime adaptation of Ragnarok Online called “Ragnarok the Animation,” although it isn’t nearly up to the actual thing.

It is what you would expect based on the game. It’s all here, from the job classes to the creatures to the stuff to the abilities to the overall universe! Or, at the very least, the majority. If you’ve played the game, you’ll appreciate this anime program because it includes all of the game’s components. And if that’s the case, you’d have a much greater appreciation for it than a casual viewer.

Ragnarok Online’s animated series lets you level up, take down enemies and bosses, and even engage in PvP combat!

10. Zero no Tsukaima

It’s time to lighten up a bit! This romantic fantasy-comedy is about to begin. Is that Zero no Tsukaima that I hear? You read that correctly: “Zero no Tsukaima!”

Hiraga Saito, on the other hand, was simply strolling along when a gateway appeared, transporting him to a new realm. That’s what they were up to, as it turned out. As a result, Zero Louise chose him to be her commoner familiar!

Louise was given the name Zero since she has no hope of succeeding at magic. She has the ability to make everything go off the rails! Whatever happens now that Saito has arrived is anyone’s guess.
