Those who live in a dystopian society are led to believe that they are safe in what looks to be a paradise at first glance. But there is a darker side to it that you may not know about. The criminal coefficient, a measure of an individual’s propensity to commit a crime, is tracked by the Sybil System, which operates around the clock and keeps tabs on everyone in society. When the coefficient is dependent on factors like as stress, a victim may also be classified as criminal. This is the tale of Akane Tsunemori, a young woman on a quest to learn the truth about the justice system.

Only recently has this list begun to veer toward the serious side. Psycho-Pass is not amusing at all. At times, it’s gruesome, gloomy, and depressing. An afterlife girl tells the main character of the story, Otonashi, that his time on Earth has come to an end, and that he is on the high school campus. They’re battling a female named Tenshi who doesn’t look all that dangerous to him, but she claims to be the leader of the Afterlife Battlefront. He decides to approach Tenshi, only to be stabbed to death as a result of his decision to ignore the crazy girls with weapons. Later, he wakes up to discover that he is still alive in the afterlife. Over time, he joins the Afterlife Battlefront reluctantly, and they engage in pranks together.

The notion of Angel Beats is quite deceiving. A slice of life animation with a slapstick comedic flavor from the fact that characters can’t seem to die sounds like a good combination. True enough, there are times when the anime may be downright amusing. An undercurrent of sadness permeates the show, and it’s clear that each and every character’s past has been filled with tragedies that have led to their current fate. From beginning to end, you’ll be sobbing your heart out. Tissue box handy? This is perfect for you.

6. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Your Lie in April)

Kousei Arima has lost the ability to hear the notes he plays on the piano after his mother’s death. Arima, the Human Metronome, is no longer able to play the piano because of the debilitating depression that seems to have overtaken his spirit. In high school, he gives up his piano and adopts a bland and colorless existence in an attempt to forget the anguish he has endured. Every aspect of Kaori Miyazono’s life is transformed when they first meet and begin to fall in love again.

It’s a story that’s both sympathetic and delicate, and Shigatsu does a great job of both. Instead than hammering you over the head with clichés about how great a couple’s chemistry is, it lets you discover it for yourself. Because everything unfolds so smoothly, the viewer is drawn into the romance from the very beginning. In this case, it’s because the show instead concentrates on the development of its two major characters and how this gradually pulls them together. 5. Nichijou (My Ordinary Life)

Nippon Ichijou is the story of a trio of high school students who can’t seem to keep out of trouble. As well as that of Hakase, a young genius who is being watched after by a robotic companion named Nano. They go to school, shop at the supermarket, and watch salmon fall from the sky on a regular basis. What? Join these characters as they go about their daily routines, which are anything but typical.

Nothing about Nichijou is comprehensible Despite the fact that there is no underlying plot, the characters all behave in such irrational ways that you know no one could ever act like that in the real world. That’s the key to its effectiveness. Nichijou’s slapstick comedy and high level of animation combine to produce hilarious moments that will have the audience in fits of laughter the entire time. 4. Sword Art Online

As a great example of how inventive visual effects, camera angles, and emphasis on specific motions can enliven even the most monotonous of activities like cooking, Shokugeki no Souma is one of those animes. It’s like watching a MasterChef-style cooking competition, but with a lot more booze. If you’re a fan of food that packs a lot of flavor and thrill, this anime is for you.

2. Sakamichi no Apollon (Kids on the Slope)

When Kaoru Nishimi’s father gets a new job, he and his family relocate to a new town. A terrible lad at school, Sentaro Kawabuchi is a gangster.
