10 Best Anime Like A Certain Magical Index Update 04/2024

Anime Like A Certain Magical Index

A Certain Magical Index is a rare anime. The series was a standout for its ability to seamlessly combine action, drama, and comedy. Even more importantly, Index’s characters aren’t only battling each other on the battlefield; they’re also battling each other mentally.

Although you’ll see a lot of battle scenes in Index, there are also a lot of other things going on, like a witty comedy part or an action sequence that incorporates the characters’ emotions, for example.

1. Code Geass

Code Geass

Even if Index is one of my favorite series, it can’t compare to the scope and scope alone of Code Geass. Both series feature two antagonistic lead characters, each of whom is doing all in their power to defeat the other. I enjoy Code Geass because it doesn’t force me to like one of the protagonists, unlike Naruto, in which I am told to dislike a character yet end up adoring them. You can see the characters’ flaws up close and personal in Code Geass, and you can still root for them to triumph in the end.

2. Seven senses of the Re’Union

One of the things that binds A Certain Magical Index to A Certain Magical Index is the amount of action in both. In contrast, Seven Senses of the Reunion is a one-of-kind work of art. Drama and romance are also a big part of it. Seven Senses is a worthwhile viewing, despite the lack of comedy (or perhaps I wasn’t looking hard enough).

3. fairy gone

fairy gone

Seeing a thrilling, action-packed story in which the gender of the protagonists has no bearing on the plot is unusual. Tachikawa Unit 3 specializes in combating bad fairies in an alternate world where humans and magical beings coexist in relative harmony. There’s a lot of action and drama in this unusual take on the magical girl anime while the narrative continues.

4. Saga Of Tanya The Evil

Saga Of Tanya The Evil, one of the darkest and grimmest World War I stories I’ve seen in a while, follows the life of a little girl who goes around killing everyone she comes across. As heavy as the subject matter may be, Tanya takes it to another level, one that leaves you feeling sick to your stomach while also making it impossible to put the camera down and not watch more.

5. Kemono Jihen

Kemono Jihen

If you haven’t seen Kemono Jihen, you’re missing out on a truly unique anime that takes place in a dystopian future when the planet is slowly devolving into an apocalyptic hellscape. While you’re here, you’ll also have a chance to see some wonderful animation, some of which will make you laugh and some of which will scare you to death. To avoid spoilers, watch the entire episode before looking them up. The plot takes several unexpected turns.

6. High School DxD

Though it’s not the first series in which a protagonist fights evil, High School DxD may be considered one of the most popular after The Devil Is A Part-Timer. It’s no longer bishounen or lolis battling devils; instead, you have powerful characters who are both good and bad, resulting in hilarious action scenarios. If you’re looking for a show like A Certain Magical Index, I definitely recommend this one!

7. Fairy Tail

Fairy Tail

Finally, Fairy Tail is a narrative about friendship unlike any other. This epic shounen anime contains a fair amount of fighting, comedy, and romance – all bundled up in one amazing series – but not having the epic action of A Certain Magical Index or Code Geass.

Those are the only “Fantasy shows” like A Certain Magical Index; as I mentioned earlier, there isn’t much else with action and humor as wonderful as these episodes. It was a pleasure to have you here today. Please come back soon for more!
