‘The Prestige,’ in the opinion of many, is Christopher Nolan’s finest work. While I strongly disagree, I do acknowledge the film’s sheer brilliance. In addition to being a film about magic, “The Prestige” is also a dark story about the bruised egos of men who are fixated on keeping things hidden. Starring Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman, as well as Michael Caine and Scarlett Johansson, it has developed a cult following over the years, thanks to director Christopher Nolan. A suspenseful thriller, “The Gift” features some standout performances. One of the best films I’ve seen in a long time.

While reading “The Invitation,” there will be times when you’ll wonder about the story’s overall meaning and the reasoning behind the main character’s actions. However, there are explanations for these plot holes, and even though they are slowly revealed, the film still manages to hold your attention from start to finish thanks to the palpable tension in the air.

Throughout the film’s 100 minutes, you’ll have the distinct impression that something sinister is afoot. In a nutshell, Will and his girlfriend are guests at his ex-Hollywood wife’s mansion for a dinner. Her new husband will be there, as well as some old friends and some dark secrets from her past, all of which will disrupt the peace of the evening. The closer you think you are, the fewer things you will actually see. When a performance confuses the audience, it’s a hoot. For those people, we have ‘Now You See Me.’ The FBI learns about a bank robbery in Paris by four magicians known as the Horsemen while they’re onstage at a Las Vegas show.

An ex-magician who now specializes in exposing magic tricks joins them in their investigation. For the remainder of the story, the magicians and investigators play a cat-and-mouse game. Aside from a shoddy script and an unresolved plot line, despite these flaws, the film is full of fun and excitement, making it a summer blockbuster in 2013.
