A Wrinkle in Time, a new film in development, promises to deliver on all fronts: action, fantasy, and science fiction, as well as a stellar cast. 1. Zathura: A Space Adventure

Zathura A Space Adventure

Based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 2002 picture book of the same name, Zathura: A Space Adventure was released in 2005. While playing an old board game they found in their basement with their brother Danny, they are accidentally launched into space where an astronaut helps them finish the game and return home. Kristen Stewart, Josh Hutcherson (yes, it’s Peeta as a teen!) and Dax Shepard star.

2. The Golden Compass

Like A Wrinkle in Time, The Golden Compass is a personal favorite of mine. The film adaptation of Philip Pullman’s best-selling novel of the same name was released in 2007. (although it was known as The Northern Lights in other countries). Lyra Belacqua, who lives in a parallel universe, embarks on a quest to find out who The Gobblers are and save the children they have kidnapped. As the title suggests, Dakota Blue Richards plays the lead role. Even though the books were superior, the movie was a good choice for a family movie night. Unfortunately, the movie adaptation never got to see the end of the series.

3. Journey to the Center of the Earth

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Journey to the Center of the Earth is a prequel to Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, which was released in 2012 and is a sequel to the 2008 film. To find out why his brother vanished, volcanologist Professor Trevor Anderson embarks on a quest to a long-lost world in the Earth’s core. Sean Anderson, his nephew, is with him. Brendan Fraser and Josh Hutcherson star in the film. Before playing Peeta in The Hunger Games, Hutherson appeared in a slew of major motion pictures. But it never occurred to me to make the connection when he looked familiar to me.

Ex-Marine Jake Sully embarks on a mission to Pandora despite his disability. The film, which stars Sam Worthington, was a huge hit, and now it even has its own Disney World theme park! After arriving on a distant moon, the crew of the spaceship Prometheus finds themselves in unfamiliar territory.
