20. Mnemosyne: Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi (2008)
If you’re searching for a more traditional shoujo anime, move on to one of the others on this list instead. If you don’t mind a little bit of violence and a lot of fan service, then this show is for you. To begin with, you might find the concept a bit vague and open-ended, but bear with us. With Mimi, Rin Asogi owns a private detective agency, and the two of them are the stars of “Mnemosyne: Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi.” Her immortality is due to the “Time Fruit,” which is only found in the Yggdrasil guardian tree. If a lady consumes it, she will become immortal. The same may be said for Mimi.
For 65 years, the anime series chronicles the life of Rin as she grows old as everyone else around her ages. Even though Rin has been in jeopardy before, she has been rescued thanks to the immortality that comes with her job. However, we can assure you that ‘Citrus’ is an excellent choice for lesbian anime fans. In addition to being a well-known socialite, Yuzu Aihara is also a fashionista. As a result, when Yuzu’s mother remarries and she has transfer to a new school, she seizes the opportunity to meet new people. The first time she kisses her boyfriend, she hopes to fall in love with him. But she doesn’t know what her new school has in store for her at this point in time. Yuzu soon discovers that her classmates merely study and follow the rules. Mei Aihara, the president of the student council, notices this and tries to seize the phone of the former.
Yuzu discovers that Mei is her stepsister when she returns home. Mei ignores Yuzu’s attempts to converse, thus the former is forced to taunt the latter. As soon as Yuzu has finished her thoughts, Mei smothers her with kisses. Yuzu does, in fact, get her first kiss, but was it everything she’d imagined? Based on the popular manga series of the same name, “Yuru Yuri” is a big hit on the big screen. The story takes place in a high school and is centered on the lives of a group of female students. Young people with typical adolescent problems and aspirations, such as Kyouko Toshinou, Yui Funami, Akari Akaza, and Chinatsu Yoshikawa.
Yui and Kyouko, Akari Akaza’s friends, are one year older than she is. As a result, she will miss out on the last year of school with her old classmates. When she starts middle school, though, everything changes. Yui and Kyouko join her in forming an Amusement Club whose sole objective is to provide members with a place to have fun. Soon after, Akari and another girl named Chinatsu join the group, and this is the beginning of an astonishing bond between these teens that will transform their lives forever…. 17. Strawberry Panic (2006)
Strawberry Panic is a good place to start if you’re new to the yuri or shoujo-ai genres. The anime does not feature any sexually explicit content and is suitable for teenagers of all ages. For the majority of the series, the story holds up admirably. Intriguing characters keep you guessing about who will end up with whom. An all-girls Catholic school in the Astraea Hill region is the setting for St. Miator’s Girls’ Academy, which is the focus of the anime. Students at the school are organized into three distinct categories, each with a distinct uniform. In St. Miator’s Girls’ Academy, Aoi Nagisa is introduced to the school’s hierarchical system. ‘Mai-HiME’ is a decent shoujo-ai anime with an interesting premise and engaging characters, but few people are aware of it. Although the tale may appear slow at first, it will pick up speed as you watch a few episodes. In addition, those who enjoy magic-themed shows are likely to fall in love with the show. Mai Tokiha, a transfer student at Fuuka Academy, appears to be an ordinary girl. Alongside her is her brother Takumi Tokiha. Because Takumi is in such bad shape due to a heart problem, Mai has come to be there for her brother. Mai pledged to look after Takumi as her mother was dying, and she has honored her promise ever since. When Mai first arrives at Fuuka Academy, however, she discovers that she possesses the Hime mark, which allows her to call a kid that is half-spiritual and half-human.
She is not alone, however, as the Hime mark has been given to a group of 12 other girls who share this power in order to defend Earth from the hideous Orphans. Mai initially refuses to get involved in the fight, but eventually joins in when the Orphans become too powerful. 15. Yagate Kimi ni Naru (2018)
“Yagate Kimi ni Naru” is one of the best shoujo-ai shows on the air right now, and it’s no surprise why. If you’re like Yuu, you’ve been waiting impatiently for your own shoujo romance to begin. Right? She should have been thrilled when a guy confessed his emotions for her and proposed to her. However, she doesn’t seem to be affected in any way. Yuu is at a loss as to how she should respond. The first time she watches student council president Touko Nagami politely turn down a boy who expresses his feelings for her, she is highly impressed at the high school level. She wants to learn how to gracefully decline someone’s offer from Nagami. Is everything okay thus far? What would Nagami do if the next person to declare her affections for Yuu is herself? 14. Konohana Kitan (2017)
“Konohana Kitan” is an anime with many magical and mythical aspects, and it’s a shoujo-ai show. The anime takes place in a fantastical universe full with mythological animals and Japanese culture. In this planet, there are many different ethnic groups, each with their own own customs and traditions. A hot springs inn, Konohanatei is located on the island of Konohana. An attendant at Konohanatei is Yuzu, a fox girl who lives in the hamlet of the spirits. Yuzu’s coworker, Kiri, is also a fox girl, and she assists Yuzu in learning all of her duties. Although Yuzu is anxious to make a contribution, her zealousness often leads to blunders. However, because she has a friendly and welcoming personality, customers and workers are more forgiving. The other fox girls at the Konohanatei inn help Yuzu become more proficient at her job, and it’s as if she’s discovered a second family there. 13. Asagao to Kase-san. (2018)
‘Asagao to Kase-san’ is a romantic anime that you might enjoy regardless of whether you like shoujo-ai or not. ‘Asagao to Kase-san’ is an OVA about a high school student named Yui Yamada who is terrible at sports and much worse at singing. However, she has been given the task of planting saplings and caring for the school’s flora because of her love of plants. Infatuation develops between her and Tomoka Kase’s boyish appearance. Together, they learn about their sexuality and grow into their new identities as the story goes on. But will they have the confidence to start a relationship with one another?
12. Bleach (2004 – 2012)
Bleach is a well-known anime that doesn’t need an explanation. Life of Ichigo, a Shinigami, is the focus of this story. Chizuru Honsho, a lesbian character in the shounen series, is smitten by Orihime and her enormous breasts. Tatsuki, Ichigo’s childhood friend and Orihime’s classmate, regularly nullifies her attempts to fondle Orihime, but it doesn’t stop her from making regular sexual advances. 11. Sailor Moon (1992 – 1997)
After formerly being an ordinary high school girl named Usagi Tsukino, “Sailor Moon” follows her as she goes on a journey to discover the far-reaching effects of saving a cat from certain death. In the end, Usagi discovers that the cat is Luna, who tells her that she will become Sailor Moon, a guardian of the Earth. In spite of the series’ high level of action, it is included on our list due to the romance between Haruka Tenou and Michiru Kaiou. The original version of the series depicted the couple courting, despite the fact that the show was adapted for the American audience. 10. Maria†Holic (2009 – 2011)
Girls only attend Ame no Kisaki Catholic School, which is a coeducational institution. The story of Nadie, a bounty hunter, is told in “El Cazador de la Bruja.” Ellis, an amnesiac teenager who is suspected of murdering a famous scientist, is her newest target. After finding Ellis, Nadie takes her to Wiay Marka, where they say there is a cure for amnesia, in the hopes that it may help her remember who she is and where she came from. 8. Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san (2014)
The lives of Yachiyo Inugami and Suzu Nekoyama, two high school students, are the focus of this yuri comedy anime. The former prefers dogs, whilst the latter prefers cats. Despite their apparent differences, the girls begin to feel a strong attraction to one another. Despite the fact that they both feel a connection, Yachiyo is the one who initiates romantic contact initially, while Suzu is more reserved. 7. Riddle Story of Devil (2014)
High school student and assassin Tokaku Azuma is the focus of ‘Riddle Story of the Devil,’ a Japanese film. It’s up to her and a team of 11 assassins to assassinate Haru Ichinose. Accomplished assassin Azuma sets off on her job but can’t finish it because she falls for the girl she’s supposed to kill instead. Finally, Tokaku succumbs to her impulses and ends up protecting Haru from the other masked assassins. The animation can be viewed here.
6. Kiniro Mosaic (2013 – 2015)
An uplifting tale of coming to terms with one’s sexuality is told through the eyes of five lesbians who were once ashamed of their sexual orientation. Shinobu Oomiya rapidly develops a close friendship with Alice throughout her time in England. Shinobu was so close to Japan that it was difficult for him to return. Shinobu is now a high school student, many years after the events of the first film. When she gets a letter from Alice, she learns that she’ll be returning to Shinobu’s High School and living with her once more. When the two reunite, old feelings reawaken, resulting in life-altering lessons for the couple and their friends.
5. Sakura Trick (2014)
Her close buddy Yuu Sonado, who gradually becomes popular and meets new people, is also a student at Misato West High School with Haruka Takayama. When Haruka hears about it, he’s envious. Yuu, on the other hand, suggests that Haruka and Yuu have something unique between them and begs for a kiss. Soon after the romantic moment, the two begin to acquire complicated sentiments for one another and begin to suspect that they may be drawn to one another.
