10. School Rumble

School Rumble (2004-2008)

School Rumble is a great alternative to extended anime series with uninteresting plotlines. Even though this anime tries to keep the main storyline going, each episode is completely random. Comedy fans will enjoy it. A rapid humorous turn occurs just as the story is about to go serious. As a newbie to anime, it’s important to keep this in mind. Many characters and numerous names necessitate a little of work to keep up with them all. It’s possible that the exaggerated character voices and occasional half-naked scenes will make the characters’ voices appear hilarious to you.

School Rumble is essentially a love triangle story. While Tenma Tsukamoto (the female protagonist) is unable to express her feelings for Karasume Oji (the male protagonist), Kenji Harima (the male protagonist) is smitten with Tenma. Kenji just goes to school because he has affections for her and doesn’t want to be without her. It becomes clear to the protagonists that high school romance is no joke, especially when various misunderstandings make things even more complicated.

9. Lovely Complex

Lovely Complex’s characters are so relatable! While viewing this romantic comedy series, you’ll feel like you’re one of the characters. They don’t stand out because they don’t have something unique to offer. You’ll empathize with the characters whose hopes and dreams are dashed, and you’ll rejoice with those whose hopes and dreams are realized. There aren’t many twists and turns in the plot itself. It doesn’t give anything new, but the story is delivered so well that you can’t help but like it.

In high school, a girl who is much taller than any other girl in her class and a guy who is much shorter than the typical boy meet and form an unlikely friendship. To further complicate matters, their respective crushes develop mutual feelings for one another, resulting in both of them experiencing heartbreak.

8. Nisekoi (Nisekoi: False Love)

Nisekoi False Love

With a rehashed plot, Nisekoi isn’t all that original. There are some Romeo-and-Juliet-like plot twists and turns in this story. This romance anime is so much fun because of its endearing cast of characters. You won’t regret it if you give this series a try if you’re feeling bored! Alternatively, you can also check out some anime that is extremely similar to this one.

7. Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions is a film that will make you laugh, gasp, and cry at the same time. This show strikes a good balance between drama and comedic romance. To balance all the intensity, there are plenty of jokes to lighten the mood. Find yourself on an emotional and comedic rollercoaster with no need to look any farther!

In this romantic comedy, Yuuta Togashi, a young boy who was diagnosed with “chuunibyou” disease, takes center stage. He was convinced that he had a special set of abilities that set him apart from the rest of the population. He is haunted by the humiliation he felt in those days and resolves to change schools. He tries to start a new chapter in his life with the belief that no one will recognize him in this new school. It doesn’t work, though, since a young lady, his new classmate, comes into his life. Your Lie in April is going to take you on a musical journey you won’t soon forget. People are drawn together by music because of the various ways it affects them. The bond between the central characters will be easy for you to identify with. This narrative is not a tragedy, so don’t make it one. Instead, it’s a celebration of life’s journey, a call to action, and an opportunity to connect with other people.

5. My Love Story

This isn’t your average high schooler, Takeo Gouda. The other boys look up to him because he’s strong, tall, and brave. Unfortunately for him, the majority of the females are terrified of his appearance. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Takeo’s best friend is stealing the hearts of every lady he likes. When Takeo saves Rinko Yamato’s life, he falls in love with her. Instead of admitting his thoughts, he unselfishly resolves to play their cupid because he believes the girl adores his handsome friend.

In My Love Story, the tensions are resolved in a realistic manner, making it an enjoyable rom-com. In today’s anime landscape, it’s unusual to find a grounded and realistic story. All of the relationships and problems are depicted as they really are. Take a look at this show if you’re a fan of slow and realistic romantic stories!

4. Doukyuusei (Classmates)

Doukyuusei (Classmates)

However, this is a film, and I believe it should be included in this section. “Classmates” is a simple romantic narrative done in a simple animation style that is based off of the manga of the same name. Nothing particularly memorable or moving about the plot. A rollercoaster of emotions might not be what you’re hoping for in a hardcore film. However, if you’re a fan of actual anime and you’re looking for a new series to watch, this one is for you! There are no plot twists, competitors, or love triangles in this novel.. Everything else is unnecessary for this anime. The plot revolves around the couple’ blossoming romance and mutual enjoyment. This anime’s cutest feature is the relationship between the two protagonists. The characters and their affection for each other are clearly depicted.

In this high school romance anime, Hikaru Kusakabe and Rihito Sajou are the stars of the show. Hikaru plays guitar in a popular band and is well-liked by girls, whereas Rihito is an A student who consistently achieves high grades. One day a week, these people get together after school to talk. They become increasingly aware as time passes of their growing attraction to one another. They’ve come to terms with the fact that their hearts are beating together because of love.

3. Kimi ni Todoke (From Me to You)

It depicts the narrative of two high school students, a boy and a girl who secretly love each other and hope that their feelings will be known by the other. Kuronuma Sawako’s classmates find her odd and frightening. The girl longs to meet new people and lead a regular life, but she cannot fathom how Kazehaya Shouta, the most popular student in the class, can be so kind and liked by everyone. Only he greets her with a grin and treats her with consideration.

High school anime is a coming of age story in this series. It concentrates on the inner thoughts and feelings of each character, revealing their true selves. Look elsewhere if you’re seeking for a romance anime just for the sake of watching a couple come together and fall in love. When it comes to expressing their emotions in Kimi ni Todoke, the characters take a long time. However, if you’re a romantic at heart, you’ll love this anime and it’s likely to become a personal favorite.

CLANNAD (2007-2008)
