20 Anime Guy And Girl Best Friends That You Should Watching Update 04/2024

It is possible for men and women to be friends. It’s true, however, that connections like these tend to have a will-they-or-won’t-they character. The friendship will be sacrificed in favor of some hot, passionate sex, whether it’s the result of one too many drinks, a tragic event, or a simple moment of weakness.

No, not with these people. We specifically sought out anime series in which a boy and a girl are just platonic friends. “Yeah, right,” you may be thinking. These stories show that boys and girls, men and women, can be friends and only friends.

This group of friends has each other’s backs through thick and thin with no sexual intent…for the most part, in the face of adversity (wink, wink). Steamy manga and friendship anime where two friends become lovers are immensely popular, but strictly platonic friendship anime is a popular genre of its own; perhaps because so many of us have tried and failed at being friends.

You’ll find real, deep friendships and relationships in these works, ones that stick with the protagonists through thick and thin. Eventually, you find yourself cheering for their friendship to endure and not end after a drunken booty call. We culled the best boy/girl best friend anime series out there, and here they are, in no particular order.
