Over time, fans become more and more invested in the lives of the characters and the plots that the writers have concocted. Fans will have to look for new shows to replace One Tree Hill now that it has ended. Fans had a strong emotional reaction to the characters because of their complexity.

One Tree Hill, despite its long absence from television, continues to be a fan favorite thanks to its compelling characters, plotlines, and the fact that it didn’t shy away from more serious issues just because its cast was young. The show ran for nine seasons and had a devoted following of viewers who watched and rewatched the episodes repeatedly. Other shows that focus on serious issues and have storylines for both teenage characters and their parents are similar to One Tree Hill, but there isn’t a show that is exactly like it.

1. Gilmore Girls

There were a lot of interesting characters in Gilmore Girls, just as there were in One Tree Hill.

Compared to One Tree Hill, Gilmore Girls dealt with softer subjects like sex and cheating.

In addition to Rory and Lorelai’s close relationship, the show’s dramatic storylines and their small town’s diverse close relationships are similar.

2. Degrassi

For several seasons now, Degrassihas followed a diverse cast of teens as they navigate high school and personal life in Canada. The show covers everything from sex and drinking to gender identity and sexual orientation to school shootings, and everything in between.

Degrassi tackles any issue that a high school student might face in the real world, but it does so in a lighthearted manner, with some truly hilarious moments sprinkled in.

3. Parenthood

There are multiple generations represented in Parenthood, from grandparents to their 40-year-old children and even grandchildren who are still in high school or in their twenties.

There are serious and dramatic themes in the show, including one child being diagnosed with Asperger’s, alcoholism, and marital problems like cheating. The show focuses on the entire family.

One Tree Hill, like Parenthood, dealt with weighty issues and people from different generations.

4. Boy Meets World

Boy MeetsWorld followed the school and personal lives of a group of characters led by Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) from middle school until they finished college in the show.

The show wasn’t known for dramatic moments that were sensationalized, but it did have its share of storylines that dealt with serious issues, usually involving Cory’s best friend Shawn Hunter’s (Rider Strong) rough family background.

Unlike One Tree Hill, where the focus was split equally between the kids and the adults, in this show the kids all grew up and the audience got to see them in their adult lives after high school.

5. Secret Life Of The American Teenager

The Secret Life of the American Teenager focused on the effects of a pregnant teen on her life and the lives of those around her, such as her friends and family members. Even though it wasn’t the only topic addressed, it was by far the biggest and most important one during the show’s five seasons.

Much like in One Tree Hill, the show featured dramatic teen drama as well as older parent characters.

6. Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars must be included on any list of the best teen dramas. True One Tree Hill fans must see this show. A coming-of-age saga like One Tree Hill had a different focus than a murder mystery like Pretty Little Liars. It has more intrigue than One Tree Hill because it is a female-driven show. As we watch each character go through the motions of trying to figure out who the mysterious villain ‘A’ is, there are plenty of laughs to go along with the mysteries.

While One Tree Hill had a larger cast, Pretty Little Liars still managed to focus on the individual characters’ backstories and even provided a time jump in the same way.

7. Beverley Hills 90210

This is not the remake, this is the original Beverly Hills 90210, with Luke Perry and Jason Priestley and Ian Ziering and Shannen Doherty. It set the stage for teen dramas before studio heads fully understood what focusing on a demographic could mean for ratings in the industry.

90210 was a similar coming-of-age story that featured eight friends who benefited from their parents’ money. However, it wasn’t just about fast cars and big houses in this neighborhood. When it came to the heavy subjects they discussed, teens are still dealing with them even in this day and age. There was no subject off-limits, whether it was teenage pregnancy, suicide, or drug abuse.

8. The O.C.

Because it focused on the fundamentals of life, One Tree Hill was popular with a wide range of viewers. On the other hand, the plot of The O.C. revolved around a group of friends who had the resources to start their own business. The O.C., on the other hand, provided fans with everything they wanted and needed. The O.C. didn’t hold back when it came to tackling tough issues like growing up in an abusive household or having parents who neglected their responsibilities.

As with One Tree Hill, there were love triangles, heartbreaks, marriages, and other typical adolescent fare. Even though the original purpose of the series was to rescue Ryan Atwater from the ghetto, it evolved into a story of redemption for all its main characters before it was cancelled.

9. Riverdale

Even though it was based on the well-known Archie comics, Riverdale was groundbreaking. Riverdale, like One Tree Hill, is still aimed at teenagers, but it deals with sensitive issues like teen sex, violence, drugs, and murder. This show on the CW Network has done a fantastic job of preserving the original comic book characters while also adding in some contemporary themes and concerns.

There’s an Archie Andrews fan in every Lucas Scott one. Riverdale has Betty Cooper for Peyton Sawyer fans. One Tree Hill and Riverdale both successfully incorporate the characters’ parents into the storyline. Hiram Lodge will make you feel the same way you felt about Dan Scott.

10. Friday Night Lights

There was a lot of focus on basketball in One Tree Hill, which I thought was really cool. Despite Lucas and Nathan’s differences, sports play a significant role in the show’s plots. It was the same for Friday Night Lights, but the sport was different. The game of football served as the focal point of the documentary about the lives of high school students in the United States.

Even though there were ups and downs between the children and their parents, mothers and their daughters, Friday Night Lights was primarily about the morals of the individuals involved.

11. Chicago P.D.

An action-adventure cop show with death, love triangles and a lot of mature material is Chicago P.D (Chicago Police Department). Sophia Bush is the reason for this item’s inclusion. Fans adored Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill, and with good reason. When the show ended, many viewers were curious as to what the actors had planned for them next. It was a cop role for Bush.

Following the Intelligence Unit, which includes Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush), as they hunt down criminals in a high-risk manner on the streets of Chicago, Chicago P.D. Fans of One Tree Hill who also enjoy action shows should check out Chicago P.D.

12. Charmed

Another show from the past that has been given a second life is Charmed. However, Shannen Doherty, Rose McGowan, and Holly Marie Combs were all in the original cast. Another show with a strong female lead, Charmed followed the lives of four witches. It wasn’t a spooky, Halloween-themed drama; instead, it focused on the bond between two sister characters.

Despite the fact that it featured supernatural elements, the show was geared toward families. Fans of One Tree Hill will be able to relate to the sisters’ experiences because they often shared difficult times. Leo’s suspicions of Paige and Phoebe led to conflict among the Charmed ones at times.

13. Dawson’s Creek

Dawson’s Creek was the prequel to One Tree Hill, which aired before it. a great coming-of-age show about a group of teenagers trying to make their way through high school and then the real world. It’s also interesting to note that One Tree Hill was filmed in the same area. Although not as daring asOne Tree Hillin terms of sexuality and drugs, Dawson’s Creek did manage to have its moments where it touched on sensitive subjects.

It was always Dawson, Joey, and Pacey’s story, no matter how complex the supporting plotlines got along the way. ‘Who belonged with who?’ was the essential question for years.

14. Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl was in a league of its own. Pretty Little Liars fans looking for a good mystery may want to binge on one of the best shows to ever air on primetime television after watching PLL. Similar to “A,” a significant portion of the show focused on figuring out who the mysterious figure was.

It was one of the first shows to go beyond the high school years and explore what happens to the main characters after they graduate. The main plot lines were well-maintained by the scriptwriters.

15. The Wonder Years

When it aired in the primetime hour, Wonder Years was the “it” show. Awkward Kevin Arnold ventured out into the world in search of his own self-identity. His father was a hardworking man who held family values dear to his heart, while his mother only wanted the best for her children and her own family.

Kevin and his brother were not fighting for respect from their father or each other, they were fighting to pass the time. No matter where you came from, we all felt Kevin’s loss when he lost Winnie Cooper in each episode.
