23 Best Anime Romance Comedy That You Should Know Update 07/2024

Best Anime Romance Comedy

Love at first sight. “Romantic comedy!” I’ll do better than that! Nope! Better! Anime with a romantic comedic tone!

Love stories that make you laugh are the best, and these anime romantic comedies are no exception. Even if it is at the price of someone else, some of us like our romances to be filled with lighthearted moments and orchestral music, rather than just filled with touching moments and soothing orchestral music. In my opinion, there aren’t many other genres in which romances genuinely work out in the end these days, and those who enjoy them will agree with me on this.

Love, friendships, and memories can all be explored in this genre, which is one of my favorite things about it. Rom-coms are known for their wacky misunderstandings and unexpected events, but these are what make them so popular!

23. The World God Only Knows

The World God Only Knows

The nerdy Keima Katsuragi character is the heart and soul of this romantic comedy anime. He’s well-known on the internet for his ability to communicate with 2D girls, but in real life, he’s had no luck finding a lady to spend his time with. That is, until the Hell came calling and asked for his assistance! I’m curious to see how things turn out. Watching this rom-com anime is a treat, thanks to its original plot, clear visuals, and vibrant cast of characters.

22. I Can’t Understand What My Husband Is Saying

A high school romance is a common plot device in rom-com anime. This one is an exception, however! There is no corny spark between the characters because they are already married when they meet. More information about them as individuals allows you to develop an even stronger emotional connection with these two fictitious characters, who become more and more genuine as time goes on.

21. Ojisan and Marshmallow

A man in his late 30s named Habahiro Hige stars in this romantic comedy animation. Lori Wakabayashi knows that he has a thing for Tabekko marshmallows! In order to keep him guessing, she either eats them all before he gets a chance or buys all of them at the store. As her friends are baffled by her constant taunting of Habahiro, it turns out that Lori and Habahiro have a lot more chemistry than they first thought!

20. Toradora

Toradora! (2008)

They are Ryuji Takasu and Taiga Aisaka, two high school sweethearts who are in love. All the while, they try to decipher their feelings in concert with one another. You’ll be left wondering about your own romantic status at any given point in this comedy, thanks to the intriguing chemistry between these two characters!

19. Lovely Complex

Featuring some of the cutest rom-com anime characters ever created, Lovely Complex is an absolute delight to watch. This is the only show like it in the world! The narrative revolves around best friends Risa Koizumi and Atsushi Otani, who are mocked by their peers because of their considerable height disparity, which makes them an ideal comedy team. Despite the fact that they don’t get along, they agree to help each other find a date.

18. Ouran High School Host Club

At Ouran Academy in Japan, Haruhi Fujioka, a high school girl, accidentally stumbles into a music room that’s been left empty. With male students entertaining female students by offering them with snacks and beverages in the room, it wasn’t as secluded as it would have seemed. After she accidentally breaks an exquisite vase that they own, the group hires her as an errand boy.

After only a few appearances on stage, Haruhi quickly gains a devoted following of female patrons who mistakenly believe she is a man. This talented kid joins the Ouran High School Host Club and remains a member for the duration of her time at the school. Even while it isn’t fully amusing, there are a few times in which you’ll find yourself laughing out loud!

17. Itazura Na Kiss

Itazura na kiss

This anime, Itazura Na Kiss, is really heartwarming. The story revolves around Kotoko Aihara, a character whose clumsiness and klutziness have already caused her to lose the love of her life. They aren’t mutual, but she has feelings for Naoki Irie. During the time it takes to rebuild Naoki’s house, Kotoko stays with his family and grows closer than she ever has before. After watching this adorable romance blossom on screen, you’ll want nothing but happiness for these two adorable characters.

16. Haganai

New school Hasegawa Kodaka has just started at. People don’t want to be friends with him because of his appearance. What sets this anime apart from other rom-coms? They decided to form a club with other individuals who don’t have any friends because his classmate, Yozora, who is often irritated by him, spent her school days chatting to phantom buddies. It doesn’t take him long to find himself in the club surrounded by lonely girls who give him the occasional ecchi moment.

15. My Little Monster

In this rom-com anime, Shizuku is a cold-blooded high school student, but not a pure ice queen. A new employment is found for her, this time delivering food to Haru. Shizuku is shocked by Haru’s innocence, believing that such a person still exists. In little time at all, she is sucked into his world of innocence and purity, and her thoughts begin to drift away.

14. Fruits Basket

Tooru honda, a high school girl who lost her mother tragically, is left to fend for herself in the wilderness. Because they realize how much Tooru has lost, Yuki Souma and his cousin offer her a place to stay. I like that this anime doesn’t just focus on grief but also on moving forward and managing your emotions at all times, especially in the face of the death of a parent (even after the tragedy). An ancient family mystery about the people you live with is a great source of entertainment in this series, as new discoveries are made in unexpected ways.

13. Oregairu

Oregairu

You may laugh and cry at the same time in “Oregairu,” which has been called one of the best romantic comedy anime of all time. After spending time with other high school students outside of school in this group, Hikigaya Hachiman begins to realize that there’s a lot more to life than what he’s been led to believe. The characters in “Oregairu” are so well-drawn that viewers can easily identify with them, yet they’re also multifaceted enough to avoid the stereotypical pitfalls that so many slice-of-life anime shows fall into.

12. Nisekoi

This anime has some of the best comedic writing I’ve ever seen. Our story’s protagonist, Raku Ichijou, appears to be a typical young man, but he made a promise to a childhood friend: they would marry if they ever met again as adults. Due to the fact that their families are secretly on opposite sides of the conflict, this adds an extra layer of complexity to the relationship between the two protagonists. When Raku misplaces a crucial school item, Chitoge offers to help him search for it, and the two quickly become rivals without either of them recognizing what had transpired until much later.

11. Golden Time

Special A

Hikari Hanazono, the main character, is a young woman consumed by the desire to win at all costs. 9. Clannad

Clannad tells the story of Okazaki Tomoya, a disturbed high school student who is unable to get excited about anything. His attitude towards her completely changes one day when he meets Furukawa Nagisa and finds out why she does what she does, which makes him chuckle at first, but when he realizes why she does it, he becomes much more understanding of her.

8. Kimi ni Todoke: From Me To You

Even though it is a rom-com with many of the same basic clichés as previous series, Kimi ni Todoke is unique in one important way. Kuronuma Sawako’s effort to make friends and avoid being viewed as “nasty” is the focus of the film. She also attracts the attention of the school’s most popular male student. In the episode, shyness and personality qualities can have an impact on how people are seen in society.

In addition to its adorable visual style and beautiful rom-com theme, this adorable anime series is all about making new friends!

7. Honey and Clover

Honey and Clover

While this anime may tug at your heartstrings, it also serves as a source of inspiration and levity. Takemoto Yuuta, Mayama Takumi, and Morita Shinobu are all broken college students living under the same roof in this show, which means there is a lot of character growth going on. When Hanamoto Hagumi, a gifted young woman, appears, love blossoms for the three of them.

6. One Week Friends

Every week, Kaori Fujiyama, a young woman, awakens with no recollection of the seven days that have gone before. During the course of the day, she suffers from amnesia and forgets all that has occurred since Sunday morning. His name is always forgotten and they never meet again no matter how many times he sees her. In spite of this, Yuuki aims to become Kaori’s best friend.

5. Kaichou Maid Sama

We follow Student Council President Misaki Ayuzawa on her quest to make the school more welcoming for girls who have recently been admitted. There will always be people who see her as a boy-hating devil despite the fact that she has acquired the trust of several professors and several students who are now her friends since society cannot handle change. Takumi Usui discovers that Misaki works part-time as a maid at a maid cafe to help support her family. As a result of a series of misunderstandings and mishaps, Kaichou Wa Maid Sama provides some of its funniest moments.

4. Kamisama Kiss

Kamisama Kiss

Kamisama Kiss is a joyful, endearing rom-com about Nanami Momozono, a young woman whose father has been expelled from the family home because of his gambling problem. On their way home from the park, they find out that Mikage lives in an old shrine that dates back to the 16th century. Once the girl is homeless, he assumes her guardianship and tries to make her a deity herself!

3. Ore Monogatari!!: My Love Story

When Takeo Goda saved Rinko Yamato, all of his bad luck with women was erased. It’s no wonder Takeo was so taken with her after saving her from being hit by a car on his bike. He couldn’t stop thinking about this lady who was so unlike him: she’s small and powerful, while he is tall and muscular. What do these two have in common? They have a unique ability to bring out the best in others through their sense of humor!

2. Tari Tari

If you’re looking for something lighthearted and fun to watch, this rom-com anime is exactly what you’ll get! Our protagonists are a diverse group of five high school students who are just beginning their journey into adulthood and dealing with all of the challenges that come with finding their first love as well as their first jobs, hobbies, and social circles in this new stage of life. In this series, music is a common thread that unites all the characters, whether they’re preparing for an audition or simply relaxing with a good CD and trying not to cry about the events of the day.

1. Tsuredure Children

Tsuredure Children

Tsuredure Children is a charming rom-com with a heartwarming storyline. Many couples are featured in this hilarious series, including Yuki’s father, who tries to get her involved in dating games, and Takano’s first dinner date with his girlfriend-to-be, which was a bit of a disaster. It’s the unexpected events that keep this lighthearted show fresh and entertaining, including one that Takuya has been anticipating for a long time but might not go according to plan!
