With romance being at the forefront of most anime, the platonic bonds that are just as crucial to the characters and plot tend to be ignored.
It’s not a secret that finding quality female friendships in anime is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. The few female friendships that stand out, however, are tremendously well-written and intriguing and deserve a lot more love than they now receive. Just having her best friend beside her, supplying her with one lovely costume after another, is enough to give Sakura that small push of confidence she needs.

Their gang is as different in terms of personalities as it can be, which makes for a hilariousdynamic, especially when Rei and Usagi quarrel over the simplest things.
Their partnership has saved the world countless times from selfish, entitled aliens, and they’ve gone to tremendous lengths to save each other from awful fates and safeguard the Silver Crystal from falling into the wrong hands. 5. Taiga And Minori Have An Unbreakable Bond (Toradora!)
Despite their diverse personalities, these two make their beloved friendship work. Minori is highly energetic and noisy, and while this would irritate Taiga if it were anybody else, she merely appears to disregard it because she appreciates Minori above others.
They both fell for their friend Ryuuji and have romantic connections with him, but Minori eventually decides to step aside for Taiga, who loves him the most. My Hero Academia stands out for its many female characters, but there’s no beating the bond between the core girls in Class 1-A. Mina, Asui, Ochaco, Jiro, Hagakure, and Yaoyorozu all have uniquepersonalities and potent quirks that, when put together, make them an extraordinarily talented lineup of pro heroes.
The fact that they all live together, have to deal with the boys in their class, and must fight the supervillainswho are constantly trying to take over the city all only enhances their relationship even deeper!
7. Sakura And Ino’s Rivalry Just Pulls Them Closer Together (Naruto)
Sakura and Ino are similar in many ways. They’re both veryintelligent and perceptive, incredibly stubborn, and highly proficient at ninjutsu. Their friendship begins after Ino saves Sakura from a group of bullies and eventually sours as they grow up, with a strong competition over Sasuke and their ninja talents growing between them.
Thankfully, they’re able to get past their disagreements and rekindle their friendship successfully. They still taunt one another all the time, but there’s significantly moreaffection in every “Ino pig” and “forehead girl” they toss at each other today.
8. Chizu, Yano, And Sawako Are An Inseparable Trio (Kimi Ni Todoke)
Chizu and Yano give Sawako the confidence to be herself and break out of her shell, earning them her unconditional affection and kindness.
Sawakoprovides genuine support to her friends when they’re having relationship issues, and Chizu and Yano assist her befriend the rest of the class andconfront and accepther feelings for Kazehaya.
Throughout Kimi ni Todoke, they’re able to look past the biased personalities they’ve been given atschool tocreate a strong friendship that lasts well after graduation, being there for each other through thick and thin, regardless of what anybody else says.
9. Homura And Madoka’s Relationship Transcends Time And Space (Puella Magi Madoka Magica)
Homura and Madoka’s extreme commitment to each otheris what the entire Puella Magi Madoka Magicaseriesis centered on. Homura was willing to relive a whole month again and over,trying to save her closest friend from a horrific death, and Madoka couldn’t stop giving her life up to do the same for Homura.
Eventually, their connection ends in catastrophe, with Madoka growing into a godlike figure and Homura taking on a demonic appearance, letting darkness to possess her. Despite their sad fate, their strong love for each other lives on in their separate sacrifices.
10. Tohru, Uo-chan, and Hana-chan Found Each Other When They Needed It Most (Fruits Basket)
Tohru, Hanajima, and Uotaniare the definition of found family. All three of them were lonely when they found each other and created anunbreakable friendship, sheltering each other from sorrow, loss, and even bullying. They’re a collection of misfits coming together to illustrate that there’s always someone out there that’s willing to care and listen.
When the tale of Fruits Basket continues, Hana-chan and Uo-chan are there to look out for Tohru as she gets connected with the Sohmas (and later on, Kyo in particular) (and later on, Kyo in particular). In exchange, Tohru goes above and above to reciprocateby trying to encourage Kureno to meet up with Uotani and by making sure Hanajima understands how important she is to her.
