Top 12 Shows Like Hawaii Five O That You Need Watching Update 04/2024

Shows Like Hawaii Five O

The bad news is that the television series Hawaii Five-0 has come to an end. The bad news is that you won’t be able to watch the show on Netflix. The good news is that if you’re a fan of the long-running drama, you won’t be disappointed with what’s available on the streaming service.

With its hit CBS procedural that was a remake of Leonard Freeman’s classic series that ran from 1968 to 1980, the hit show gave viewers a glimpse into the darker side of paradise during its ten seasons on the network “Five-0” was a task force led by Reserve Naval Officer Steve McGarrett, played by Alex O’Laughlin, and Detective Danny Williams, played by Scott Caan, that investigated a range of crimes in the Hawaiian Islands, from organized crime to terrorism.

Now that the show has ended, where can fans go to continue their quest for justice in the Hawaiian Islands (aside from Magnum P.I.’s CBS remake of the classic Hawaiian-based CBS crime show)? While I can’t guarantee a tropical climate for everyone, I’ve compiled a list of Netflix streaming options for those who are already pining for an episode of Hawaii Five-0. Let’s “put them on the schedule.”

1. Criminal Minds

Shows Like Hawaii Five O

In this fan favorite, a federal law enforcement team that specializes in psychological analysis attempts to predict the next move of the most dangerous people in the United States in order to catch them in the act after 15 seasons of the series finale.

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: As with Mindhunter on Netflix, Criminal Minds takes inspiration from FBI Behavior Analysis cases but presents them in a far less graphic manner than that show. It is a CBS procedural drama with a cast of likeable characters who have dedicated their lives to studying some very unlikable people (at first led by Mandy Patinkin, but later by Joe Mantegna) who have changed over time.

2. The Blacklist

The elusive master criminal Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) turns himself in to the FBI on Elizabeth Keen’s (Megan Boone) first day as a profiler, surprising the bureau by offering his assistance in catching the country’s most wanted felons.

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: It’s a deliciously mysterious and addictively exciting series about unlikely partnerships that pay off nicely, and it’s currently in its seventh season on NBC.

3. Person Of Interest

Person Of Interest

An affluent technology wizard (Michael Emerson) teams up with a former CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) to form a preemptive task force that uses artificial intelligence software he designed to detect impending crimes in New York City before they happen.

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: Even though this Emmy-nominated CBS procedural, executive-produced by J.J. Abrams and the show’s creator Jonathan Nolan (Christopher’s brother and co-creator of Westworld), didn’t last as long as other procedurals, its Minority Report-inspired premise and stellar cast made for five seasons of interesting and thought-provoking entertainment.

4. Lethal Weapon

In order to track down a drug smuggler, veteran Los Angeles police detective Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) and loose cannon Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) must put their differences aside and work as a team.

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: One of many Shane Black-penned thrillers suitable for the holiday season, this buddy cop classic from 1987 is one of the best action films of its time, or any time, especially for the chemistry between its mismatched heroes.

5. Limitless

Limitless

A young New Yorker (Jake McDorman) finds himself in possession of a pill that unlocks his brain’s full potential, making him the prime suspect in a murder linked to the drug, before earning him a consulting position with the FBI.

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: Even though the show on CBS only lasted for one season, it’s remembered as a fun mix of science fiction, comedy, and of course, good ol’ fashioned procedural drama produced by Bradley Cooper, who also appears on it from time to time.

6. Taken

When it comes to TV shows based on popular movies, Bryan Mills (Clive Standen), a vengeful former Green Beret, is recruited by the CIA to use his “particular set of skills” for a potentially “long career” of hazardous operations involving people for whom he could prove to be “a nightmare.”

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: In this two-season prequel to the blockbuster action film franchise starring Liam Neeson, audiences were taken on an international adventure.

7. NCIS

NCIS

Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), a former marine turned special agent, leads his team from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Washington D.C. to crack cases involving Marines or Navy personnel and their families, especially.

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: One of the longest-running procedurals of all time, and certainly the longest to air on CBS, is currently in its 17th season and has inspired two hit spinoffs along the way. It is buoyed by first-rate writing, Emmy-nominated action choreography, and a dynamic cast of colorful characters.

8. The Good Cop

Solving crimes is nothing in comparison to living with his estranged father, ex-cop Tony Caruso Sr. (Tony Danza), who has just been released from prison and is a troublesome former cop.

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: One more Netflix original series that was prematurely canceled by the streaming service, leaving fans heartbroken and hoping for more of the irresistible wit and endearing characters that this crime dramedy created by the creator of Monk had to offer in its single season.

9. Haywire

Haywire

Former Black Ops soldier (and future The Mandalorian star Gina Carano) seeks revenge on those who betrayed her after they were duped by government agents who hired her.

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: Haywire’s central character was rewritten by director Steven Soderbergh so that actress Gina Carano could lead an all-star cast that included Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, and Channing Tatum, among others, in this action-packed espionage thriller about a man on a thrilling quest for revenge, similar to Steve McGarrett’s story arc in Hawaii Five-0.

10. Quantico

FBI agent Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra) recalls her recruitment days to figure out who may have framed her after becoming a prime suspect in a devastating terrorist bombing.

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: For three seasons, Quantico offers a good mix of dark, suspenseful mysteries with sexy character-driven side stories, just like any other good network television drama on the air today.

11. Spenser Confidential

Spenser Confidential

Former Boston cop Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) teams up with his aspiring MMA fighter roommate (Winston Duke), his longtime friend and landlord (Alan Arkin), and his feisty on-and-off girlfriend (Iliza Schlesinger) to investigate the murder of two of his former colleagues, one of whom he was suspected of killing (Mark Wahlberg).

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: Director Peter Berg’s offbeat Netflix original is based on author Robert B. Parker’s famous private investigator and feels like the pilot of a network TV procedural drama (despite frequent F-bombs) extended to 110 minutes, from the tense score, cinematography, and the formation of a ragtag group of justice seekers right before your eyes.

12. Malibu Rescue: The Series

In the course of fulfilling their oath to protect Malibu’s beachgoers, a group of scruffy young lifeguards encounters the typical problems faced by teenagers, even if it does not involve the same glamorous style, action-packed thrills, and slow motion running shots that they had anticipated.

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 will enjoy it because: If you’re a fan of Hawaii Five-0, then you’ll love this new Netflix comedy series, which is an extension of the same-named 2019 Netflix original film. It may not have the same grit and dramatic narrative style as an adult-oriented crime procedural, but it does have its fair share of action in a sunny, oceanside setting.
