Shows Like Aqua Team Hunger Force

There are numerous excellent original animated series for adults, in part because these programs, such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, are often sequels.

There are a plethora of excellent adult animated television series available these days. In spite of this, even the most innovative shows have drawn inspiration from classic films and television shows.

From time to time, viewers can expect even more entertainment and success from a successful show’s direct spinoff. Even though some shows heavily draw from their inspiration, others have developed a unique style that is unrecognisable when compared to the originals. These ten animated series are actually spin-offs, which some viewers may not be aware of.

1. Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Adult Swim’s third longest-running show, ATHF, has become a fan favorite. From South New Jersey to Seattle, Washington, Master Shake, Meatwad, and Frylock run into bizarre situations and a wide range of enemies.

It’s no secret that Space Ghost Coast To Coast has developed a cult following over the years, but some fans may not be aware of this fact.

In the Space Ghost Coast to Coast episode “Baffler Meal,” Master Shake, Meatwad, and Frylock made their first appearance. The Teen Hunger Force’s mission was to prevent adolescent hunger, hence the name.

2. Space Ghost Coast To Coast

Many Hanna-Barbera fans can trace their love of cartoons back to their childhood, but some of their favorite characters have been around since the 1960s. Space Ghost was a fictional character from a 1966 CBS science fiction series of the same name. Let’s fast forward to 1994, when one of Cartoon Network’s first fully produced original series, rebranded as a surreal talk show aimed at adults, was aired. It was called Space Ghost Coast To Coast.

This show has inspired countless other shows and spin-offs, such as The Eric Andre Show, Perfect Hair Forever, and several others on this list. It was moved to Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming in 2001.

3. The Brak Show

the Brak Show

Another Space Ghost Coast To Coast spin-off is The Brack Show.

With a friendlier and more childlike personality than on Space Ghost Coast To Coast, Brak, the title character, is a space cat who was once a major villain on Space Ghost in the 1960s.

While at school and in Brak’s neighborhood, Brak and his manipulative giant mantis friend Zorak run into a variety of interesting alien characters. From 2000 to 2003, Adult Swim aired this early sitcom parody.

Birdman and the Galaxy Trio from the 1960s inspired another show, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.

the focus of the show is on Birdman, who works as an attorney at the firm where many other superheroes from the Hanna Barbera universe also work, and it features a wide range of surrealist, pop culture and parody humor. The first season of this Adult Swim animated sitcom aired in 2001, and it ran until 2007.

5. Æon Flux

Æon Flux

The only show on this list that isn’t a comedy is this eerily original adult animated series. Originally a series of shorts on MTV’s Liquid Television, the German Expressionist experimental drama was later spun off into its own stand-alone series in 1995 and has been on since.

The series follows a secret agent from Monica, a border wall city led by another character named Trevor Goodchild, who was previously unnamed and killed off in the Liquid Television shorts.

Because of its avant-garde aesthetic and forward-looking setting, on Flux stands out even today.

6. TV Funhouse

Depending on who you ask, this title may evoke memories of a popular Saturday Night Live segment or a Comedy Central television series. A SNL spin-off spoofing children’s shows like Pee Wee’s Playhouse aired for two seasons in 2000 and 2001. A different theme would be explored in each episode, and recurring skits would appear frequently, as would the show’s trademark crude and vulgar humor. Unfortunately, the show was canceled after just one season due to budget problems.

7. Jeff & Some Aliens

Jeff & Some Aliens

An earlier version of Jeff & Some Aliens appeared on Comedy Central’s TripTank, a show that featured adult animation sketches.

The extraterrestrials assist Jeff on a daily basis by utilizing their cutting-edge technology. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after only one season.

Political satire show Our Cartoon President got its start on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Showtime’s The Cartoon President debuted in 2018 and is now in its third season, which premiered in January 2020.

There are many voice actors who will often play at least three different characters in Our Cartoon President which is both a workplace comedy as well as a political satire. These characters include members of the president’s family and colleagues as well as politicians in and around DC. Jeff Bergman, best known for his work on Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera cartoons, provides the voice of the President.

Daria was an MTV sitcom about a troubled adolescent girl that ran from 1997 to 2002. In the new millennium, intelligent but misanthropic adolescent Daria Morgendorffer and her best friend Jane Lane try to navigate their way through high school. Jodie is the name of a recurring character on Daria, and Comedy Central announced that it had picked up Jodie in June 2020.

It’s possible that Daria’s fans don’t know that she’s a spin-off of Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butthead.

Beavis and Butthead frequently teased Daria about her appearance on the show. Daria’s creator, Judge, relinquished control of the character after releasing the character’s rights.
