The detective on the case is also having issues of her own. After a tumultuous divorce, she is now being pursued by an ex-convict who had vowed revenge years earlier and has since escaped from prison.

It’s all about gluttony in this film, which uses the dark and subdued tones of film noir to show the killer’s terrible capacity for murder.

Somerset, an experienced and well-educated but jaded detective, studies the Seven Deadly Sins to better understand the killer’s methods, while Detective Mills (Pitt), a young and naive but impulsive detective, scorns Somerset’s attempts to gain insight into the killer’s mind.
