Do you enjoy romantic-comedy television? It’s possible that Young and Hungry is a favorite of yours. If you enjoyed Josh and Gabi’s antics and chemistry on Young and Hungry, here are the best shows like it.
The plot of Young and Hungry centers on Josh, a successful entrepreneur and wealthy businessman, who meets Gabi, a brash young food blogger. When Josh hired Gabi as his personal chef, their worlds collided. With her job security on the line, Gabi goes to great lengths to ensure she is as well-prepared as possible before starting her shift. While cooking for Josh and his new girlfriend, Gabi finds herself in an awkward situation. Then she realized that it wasn’t just Josh who was enticing her to apply for the position. The story continues with Gabi seizing the chance for work—and, even better, love.
Romantic comedy fans will enjoy the show because it’s geared toward teenagers. If this story makes you want to watch a sitcom, here are a couple of shows in the same genre to tide you over.
1. Sean Saves the World
This is a Sean Hayes-led American situation comedy on the small screen. The show premiered on October 3rd, 2013 and aired until the 24th of March of this year. The story has only 13 episodes and 1 season, so it’s not very long. After 13 episodes, Sean Saves the World was announced to be canceled on January 28th, 2014 in the media. As the episodes progressed, NBC aired the film.
The show was a hit, so Universal Studios produced on-demand DVD sets of the episodes. The sad thing about this show is that there was never a second season or news about it. A great plot with Sean, the protagonist, a divorced gay father who was with his 14-year-old daughter and has to balance his successful but demanding career with caring for his child. As a role model for parents, the show offers advice on how to strike a healthy work-life balance while also being a single parent.
2. Chalet Girl
Young and Hungry is a comedy/romance film with elements of both genres. There was a lot of action in the rom-com, with Kim (the lead) snowboarding at her father’s ski resort. She wanted to participate in a competition with a high prize. She was terrified until she met Johnny, her boss, and things began to change.
Similar to the show Young and Hungry, Chalet Girl follows Kim as she prepares for her competition and falls in love with her boss. A good romantic comedy was provided in 2011 when Chalet Girl was released.
In 2014, the web series Selfie premiered for the first time. Romantic comedy was the focus of this show. John Cho and Karen Gillian starred in the show. This was created by Emily Kapnek for Warner Bros. The show aired on ABC for one year before it was canceled in 2015 for lack of interest. The plot revolves around Karen, who was featured in a viral video and worked with a marketing expert named John to get her reputation back on track.
The show had 13 episodes, so it was considered a full season. There are many parallels between this story and Young and Wild. The average length of an episode was around 21 to 22 minutes. People’s choice award nominated it for “Favorite New TV Comedy” back in 2014. If you’re getting bored with rom-coms and think the only one that meets your standards is Young and Wild, Selfie is a great place to start.
The show debuted on CBS on September 23rd, 2013, with the first episode airing two days later. Chuck Lorre, Gemma Baker, and Gorodetsky developed this show. The program lasted a long time because it is still being updated today. Season 7 will premiere on September 26, 2019, according to the show’s creator, who also revealed the most recent update. There’s a lot to look forward to after watching this show.
There is a dysfunctional mother-daughter duo in Napa, California where the filming takes place. They were both alcoholics who became addicted to alcohol despite being sober, as if they were the only ones struggling to make it in the world.
The show is a huge hit with viewers, and the great plot is partly to blame for its success. They’re still one of the top five adult comedies in the United States. It’s the best show on television.
5. Kitchen Confidential
Another popular American sitcom on television is called Kitchen Confidential. The series premiered on Fox on September 16th, 2005. The story was inspired by Anthony Bourdain’s New York Times best-selling book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. On the morning of December 5, 2005, the show abruptly ended.
Despite being confined for so long, the show put on a good performance. A 13-episode series for one season remains even after the show was canceled. Before some of the film’s problems could be resolved, it had to be a lovely story.
The show premiered on October 5, 2005, and lasted until April 12, 2016 (inclusive). Conrad Jackson and Prinze created the television series Freddie in the United States. It was based on Freddie Prinze’s real-life story that the main character in the show would be named Freddie Prinze. Oh how Freddie grew up in a house full of women inspired his story. Conrad Jackson and a longtime friend made the series a reality.
There were a total of 21 episodes in the show’s first season. Situational comedy, which is similar to Young and Hungry, was a good film to which I can refer.
7. See Dad Run
The first episode of Nick at Nite’s See Dad Run aired on October 6th, 2012. The show was canceled on March 17, 2014, after three seasons and 50 episodes.
The plot revolves around David Hobbs, who eventually decides to stay at home with their children in order to help Amy Hobbs become a successful soap opera star. It’s his life’s work to look after his three children, and he finds it more difficult than anything else. The show’s storyline primarily revolved around a family and is filled with humor.
8. Men at Work
An original TBS sitcom from the United States, this show featured a cast of mostly Americans. Actors Michael Cassidy, Meridith Hagner, Danny Masterson, Adam Busch, and James Lesure collaborated with director Breckin Meyer to create the show. The show premiered on May 24, 2012, and ended on May 11, 2014, with its cancellation. There were 30 episodes in all for the three seasons.
In the story, Milo, who was devastated by his relationship with his girlfriend, goes through a lot. His loneliness drove him to try dating with his three closest friends, all of whom work with him. After that, the show switches gears to a romantic comedy theme that will have you rolling with laughter the entire time. You should watch it if you want to laugh about a particular period of your life and then forget about it.
9. House of Payne
Tyler Perry is the sole creator and producer of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne. It’s a new American sitcom that follows the Payne family, with patriarch Curtis and his wife Ella at the center. From June 21 to August 10 of this year, TBS had aired the show. A remarkable 254 episodes were produced over the course of the series’ 8 seasons.
Dark themes and addiction are prominent in the show’s message. The plot develops in installments. It’s still a fun comedy, so there’s that. You’ll spend a lot of time laughing on your couch if you watch this series.
10. Melissa and Joey
The show falls under the umbrella of the romantic comedy genre. This was an original ABC Family production that aired from 2010 until 2015. 104 episodes across four seasons. Mel Burke, a local politician, and Joe Longo, a babysitter she hires after a Ponzi scheme leaves her broke, are the focus of the story’s plot. The storyline is clever, and it manages to hold the attention of the audience.
The film’s popularity has maintained a high box office take, and it has been nominated for and won numerous awards since its release in 2013. Watching the show will make you forget that you were a fan of Young and Hungry in the first place.
