Best Bollywood Action Movies

Who doesn’t enjoy the high-octane action of Hindi-language films? It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, Bollywood and its stars have a distinct identity and following. Romantic stories are at the heart of Hindi cinema, which spans a wide range of genres. The theme of a lovely “Damsel in Distress” is one that most Bollywood directors seem to enjoy, and these damsels surely need saving. If you’ve ever wondered what it is that knights do, you’ve come to the right place. They take on a lot of baddies, right? But not exactly when we’re talking Bollywood. No Bollywood film is complete without drama, romance, some more drama, cheesy music, at least one item number, and most importantly, buckets full of action scenes! I mean, yes, they battle villains.

Our discussion today is about a type of Bollywood film that involves frenzied chases, beatings, physical combat as well as a lot of aggression and a lot of violence. Everything that you would never do in real life, even if you had the chance.

Also, a polite disclaimer: Hindi action movies are mostly for amusement purposes, and their concepts should be kept within the four walls of the cinema halls that we watch them in.

List of Bollywood Hindi Action Movies-

1) Dhoom

Dhoom

No one has to be introduced to this film. You can’t have it both ways, you can’t have it both ways! Once upon a time, this song was the anthem of the Indian young.

Dhoom is a popular franchise for more than one reason. The series has been a runaway success at the box office with each new installment. Intense action, thriller, romance, drama, and suspense. This movie has all the ingredients to make it to the millionaire’s club, with a stellar cast of performers portraying cops and robbers and an exciting plot of run and chase! The Dhoom franchise generated a total of $177 million for three films on a budget of $42 million.

Critics should give more credit to the villains in this film than the heroes. You may say that this film completely shifted the Bollywood action movie landscape with its innovative storyline!

2) Singham

Ajay Devgn’s status as a leading man in the cannon of Hindi action cinema was cemented with this film. Ajay’s career took a major shift in that moment. It cost $40 million to make this film, yet it made a stunning $1.57 billion. In addition, don’t forget about the dialogue and the songs that elevated this film to new heights. Everybody knows that Rohit Shetty movies are known for their car-crushing and soaring moments. Add a dynamic hero, a brilliant villain, and ultimate direction, and you get Singham as the by-product. It’s not a stretch to suggest that this film was a hit with Hindi action movie fans.

3) Uri – The Surgical Strike

Uri - The Surgical Strike

This is a new Hindi action film that has received an IMDB rating of 8.2/10, making it a must-see on the site. Few recent Bollywood action films have made it to IMDB’s top 8 list. This one stands out for a few reasons. Remember the “how’s the josh” dialogue? It instantly brings back memories of this film and, of course, the beautiful Vicky Kaushal. The movie had to have some content if it was liked by 97 percent of viewers.

The action scenes between Major Vihaan Singh Shergill (Vicky Kaushal) and the militants had the spectators riveted to their seats. Even though it was fictionalized, this film was based on real events of reprisal and a surgical strike by the Indian army against insurgents.

4) Mardaani

Not all Hindi films have male protagonists. Similarly, we have female protagonists in Hindi action films. In Mardaani, Rani Mukherjee starred as Shivani Roy, a cop. Her outstanding acting prowess made her brave and powerful character look effortless. She fearlessly uncovers and nabs child trafficking organizations in this action-packed movie. Fearless in her approach to dealing with these traffickers, she pursues and captures them.

5) Bandit Queen

Bandit Queen

Banned in society because of a film that was too advanced for its day. It’s possible that our audience wasn’t as prepared to embrace a female lead in Hindi action movies as it is now. It’s also extremely horrible in its own right. The events of Phoolan Devi’s life were shown in this film, which was based on a true story.

Before reading this, if you didn’t already know about the atrocities Phoolan Devi had to go through as a lower caste woman in rural India, you should know now. Not only was she subjected to racial profiling, but she was also raped many times.

After a turn of events, she became a bandit’s most feared and powerful leader. The Bandit Queen was her nickname. This is why this film has the same title. The film was censored by the Censor Board soon after its debut because of its violent content.. Seema Biswas, who played Phoolan Devi in the Shekhar Kapur-directed film, won the National Film Award for Best Actress.

6) Dabangg

Salman is unquestionably the king of the Hindi action flicks, if the Khans are the kings of Bollywood. His production company is responsible for the vast majority of today’s action flicks. After Dabbang’s massive success at the box office, a lot of things started to change. Chulbul Pandey, a small-time cop in UP, was portrayed by Salman Khan, and the film focused on how he deals with the obstacles he confronts in his struggle against corruption, including Chhedi Singh, a villain played by Sonu Sood.

The film’s aggressively humorous dialogue and action sequences made it a hit. Salman is the only person capable of bringing action and humour together.

7) Sholay

Sholay

In the Hindi Action Movies collection, Sholay! is a cult favorite.

Jai & Veeru and Basanti were only two of the many characters in this film that had famous action sequences, but it also had a strong story, A-listers in key parts (including Amitabh and Dharmendra), a dream girl as its’ heroine, and a supervillainy villain Gabbar. This one was plainly destined for greatness because of all of the above-mentioned factors.

The plot itself is rather straightforward. Thakur, an ex-policeman with no hands, hires Jai and Veeru to catch Gabbar, the legendary goon. To put an end to the commotion in Ramgarh, Jai and Veeru went out to capture Gabbar.

8) Satya

Even if you can’t recall the title of the film, you’ll likely recall the song “Goli Maar Bheje Mein,” Kallu Mama, Bhiku Mhatre, or the film’s protagonist, Satya, from the soundtrack or elsewhere in the film.

Last but not least, we have another classic from the late 1990s in the form of this one. With an IMDB score of 8.2 and a rotten tomato rating of 90%, this is unquestionably one of the best Hindi action films ever made. 9) Ghajini

Ghajini

This film’s first impression on you might not be that of an action flick. True love and grief lead to violence and action sequences in this story. A big-shot business mogul (Aamir Khan) falls in love with a lowly girl (Asin) who is later killed by him (Sanjay Singhania). Short-term memory loss concerns have made it impossible for Sanjay to lead an ordinary life despite his status as a business mogul.

He embarks on a quest to track down Ghajini, the assassin who murdered his lover, with the help of the clues and tattoos he has covered his body with. A riveting Hindi action film is born when Sanjay and Ghajini finally meet!
