David Campbell WILD WITH STYLE – a new show, at the Drama Theatre, Sydney Opera House for strictly limited season from Friday 21 April. Producer, Rodney Rigby of newtheatricals, in announcing David Campbell WILD WITH STYLE said “David is an outstanding performer - with a unique ability to get behind the songs he sings, it will be an exciting series of concerts”.
David Campbell has gathered praise and international attention right across the entertainment spectrum –from his beginnings in cabaret to musical theatre, radio, concerts, recordings and now his new show WILD WITH STYLE at the prestigious Sydney Opera House.
He has carefully built his profile: last year he played Joe Gillis Sunset Boulevard to great acclaim – “toweringly good” said the Age, “dashing and stirring,” said the Herald Sun, “he was the stand out,” said The Australian. David owned the stage in the national tour of Shout and then New York soon knew what David Campbell was all about – with winning appearances in book musicals and headlining New York’s famous cabaret rooms.
David has performed for the Queen and Prince Philip as a major soloist in Cameron Mackintosh’s 1998 extravaganza Hey Mr. Producer, won the Green Room Award for his performance in Carousel, a New York MAC Award and two MO Awards. WILD WITH STYLE will feature the music of Bruce Springsteen, Peter Allen, Al Jolson, Sammy Davis Jnr. Mr Bojanglesand Henry Mancini’s Moon River. The six piece band is led by Music Director, Michael Tyack.
